Fleet Manager – Transportation & Fleet Operations

Goodwill Columbus – Full Time

Drive Mission Through Mobility

Goodwill Columbus is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fleet Manager to oversee the acquisition, operation, maintenance, and compliance of our fleet of vehicles, with a primary focus on Non-Medical DODD Transportation services. This role is critical in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient transportation that supports individuals with disabilities and the mission-driven programs that make a difference in our community every day.

The Fleet Manager will collaborate across multiple business units, manage vendor relationships, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a culture of safety while maximizing fleet performance and operational efficiency.

Pay/Schedule/Location 

Pay:  $54,000 to $64,000

Schedule: Monday thru Friday 

Location: Various locations throughout central in central Ohio 

What You'll Do

Fleet Operations & Transportation Management

  • Manage and coordinate fleet vehicles and transportation routes to meet the needs of multiple Goodwill programs and departments.
  • Utilize routing and fleet management technology to improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Oversee multi-site fleet operations, including vehicle inspections, cleaning, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
  • Monitor vehicle utilization and recommend acquisition and retirement schedules based on organizational needs and performance metrics.
  • Ensure fleet readiness and reliability to support daily transportation services.

 

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT), OSHA, and other applicable transportation regulations.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle records, inspections, certifications, and maintenance documentation using fleet management systems.
  • Coordinate annual DOT inspections and maintain inspection calendars.
  • Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety for drivers, passengers, and staff.
  • Partner with managers to ensure all new drivers receive required training and certifications.

Fleet Technology & Reporting

  • Administer and maintain fleet systems including:
    • Enterprise Fleet Management
    • Azuga Telematics
    • WEX Fuel Cards
    • MaintainX
  • Troubleshoot fleet technology issues and ensure data accuracy.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators, including vehicle utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and mileage.
  • Generate reports and provide recommendations to leadership for continuous improvement.

Vendor & Administrative Management

  • Manage relationships with maintenance vendors, repair facilities, and fleet partners.
  • Conduct vendor research, negotiate services, and monitor vendor performance.
  • Process purchase orders, invoices, check requests, and other departmental administrative functions.
  • Support budgeting and cost-control efforts through effective fleet management practices.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Respond to after-hours emergencies or vehicle-related incidents as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Goodwill's mission and operational goals.

What You’ll Need

  • Associate degree or technical degree in Business Administration, Transportation, Automotive Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in fleet management, vehicle maintenance, transportation logistics, or related operations.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and personal automobile insurance.
  • Experience working with fleet management software, telematics systems, and fuel card programs.
  • Familiarity with DOT and transportation compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in both office and field environments.
  • Regular exposure to vehicles, transportation facilities, and varying weather conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to engine noise, moving vehicles, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the position.
