Your Impact at LILA
As the Fixed Asset Accounting Manager at Lila, you'll play a critical role in building and scaling the Company's fixed asset, lease, and capital project accounting infrastructure during a period of rapid growth and innovation. You will own the end-to-end accounting lifecycle for capital assets-from acquisition and capitalization through depreciation, impairment, retirement, and audit support-while partnering closely with Procurement, Facilities, Lab Operations, and Finance.
This role will be instrumental in establishing best-in-class asset accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting strategic capital investments, and maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP. You will help build the operational and accounting foundation that supports Lila's expanding laboratory, facilities, and scientific equipment footprint.
What You'll Be Building
Fixed Asset Accounting & Reporting
  • Own the fixed asset accounting function, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, transfers, impairments, and reconciliations.
  • Manage the monthly fixed asset close process and prepare supporting journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset records and ensure compliance with capitalization policies and U.S. GAAP.
  • Review capital expenditures and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Support accounting for laboratory equipment, capital leases, leasehold improvements, construction-in-progress projects, and capital infrastructure investments.
  • Maintain asset records necessary to support depreciation calculations and fixed asset reporting.

Asset Governance & Lifecycle Controls
  • Partner with Procurement, Facilities, and Lab Operations to ensure complete and accurate asset data is captured during purchasing and onboarding.
  • Oversee asset identification and tracking standards, including asset tagging and inventory control processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of asset ownership, location, lifecycle status, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate periodic physical inventories and asset verification procedures and investigate discrepancies.
  • Ensure consistency of asset information across ERP, procurement, and asset management systems.

Lease & Capital Project Accounting
  • Support accounting for operating and finance leases under ASC 842.
  • Maintain lease inventories and support tracking of lease commencement dates, renewal options, expiration dates, and lease modifications.
  • Partner with Facilities and Procurement to monitor leasehold improvement projects and capital construction activities.
  • Oversee construction-in-progress (CIP) tracking and coordinate timely capitalization upon project completion.
  • Assist with technical accounting analyses related to capital assets, lease arrangements, and complex capital projects.

Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls
  • Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit requests related to fixed assets, leases, and capital projects.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation supporting capitalization, depreciation, asset ownership, and asset disposals.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls related to fixed assets and capital expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.

Systems & Process Improvement
  • Drive improvements in fixed asset accounting processes, automation, and reporting.
  • Partner on ERP optimization efforts, including NetSuite fixed asset functionality and reporting enhancements.
  • Improve integration between procurement, asset management, lease management, and accounting systems.
  • Build scalable processes that support Lila's rapidly growing scientific and facilities infrastructure.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 6+ years of accounting experience, including public accounting and/or industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly fixed asset accounting, capitalization, depreciation, impairment, and lease accounting.
  • Experience supporting fixed asset accounting in a capital-intensive environment
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally
  • Experience supporting laboratory, manufacturing, research, or facility- intensive operations.

Bonus Points For
  • Experience with construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting and capital project accounting.
  • Experience working with asset management systems, asset tracking programs, or physical inventory processes.
  • Experience supporting external audits and compliance environments.
  • Familiarity with barcode, QR, or RFID asset tracking methodologies
