JOB SUMMARY

The Bus Driver position reports to the VP of Programs and is accountable for driving the Five Keys Mobile Classroom, a converted SF MUNI public bus now used as a classroom 3-4 days a week in various San Francisco neighborhoods. This position will be responsible for safely driving the mobile classroom to occasional weekend community events with local partners. This position will be required to pick up and drop off the bus at a secure location located on the grounds of the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department County Jail in San Bruno, California, and transporting the bus to various locations on assigned routes.  Additional duties include assisting with maintaining vehicle maintenance, records, safety requirements, and cleanliness.
We are looking for someone who insists on maintaining a positive attitude and enjoys supporting a diverse group of people.  This job requires clearing a DMV Motor Vehicle Record review by Five Keys’ insurance company and possessing a valid CDL Class B license with Passenger Endorsement. 
This is a temporary, on-call/part-time, position. Schedule may vary Monday-Saturday, 8am - 4pm.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Check the bus tires, lights, and oil and other basic maintenance
  • Maintain all vehicle records
  • Ensure the bus is in safe operating conditions
  • Schedule all vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • Bring vehicle to special events
  • Assist with all vehicle logistics including, storage, route, permits
  • Keep the bus clean and presentable to the public
  • Pick up and drop off passengers (on occasion) at designate locations
  • Follow a planned route according to a time schedule
  • Help disabled passengers get on and off the bus
  • Obey traffic laws and state and federal transit regulations
  • Follow procedures to make sure they and all passengers a safe
  • Watch traffic and people carefully to ensure the safety of dents getting on and off the bus
  • Keep order and safety on the school bus
  • Understand and enforce the school system's rules regarding student conduct
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Have necessary licensing and experience in operating a bus in an urban setting
  • Maintain a clean DMV printout for transporting others
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality and take all precautions when handling sensitive information

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

  • To promote the health and safety of its employees, those we serve and our local communities, Five Keys requires that all employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and/or adhere to all weekly testing and safety measures. Employees may also request and receive approval for an exemption from this policy. Exemptions are granted to accommodate a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief. 
  • Must wear provided PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adhere to all safety guidelines and requirements, when needed
  • Frequent talking and hearing conversations
  • Long periods of walking, sitting at a desk and/or computer station
  • Lifting items that weigh up to 25 lbs.; reaching, bending, carrying and stooping within the daily routine of tasks and activities

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is contingent upon: 

  • Satisfactory results of a Live Scan (criminal background investigation)
  • Submitting proof of valid California Driver’s License, Class B with passenger endorsement and air brake endorsement
  • A current DMV H6 printout
  • Possess a current medical clearance card
  • Passing review of Motor Vehicle Records
  • Submitting proof of clear TB results. Results dated within 60 days prior to hire date are acceptable

  • Work environment varies from site to site
  • Some personal safety risk working in underserved communities
