Manufacturing Quality Technician III

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Quality Technician III will lead quality efforts for complex manufacturing processes requiring precision, compliance, and technical expertise. Diagnose and resolve high-impact quality issues while driving continuous improvement. Act as a technical authority and mentor within the quality function.

Essential Job Functions*

  • Lead structured root cause investigations using methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and Pareto analysis.
  • Analyze SPC data and identify process capability gaps (Cp/Cpk).
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving equipment, materials, or process variation.
  • Interface with PLC/HMI systems to monitor or diagnose process-related quality issues.
  • Develop, revise, and standardize inspection procedures and quality documentation.
  • Lead internal audits and prepare documentation for customer or regulatory audits.
  • Investigate supplier quality issues and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Mentor Level I and II technicians, providing guidance and training.
  • Partner with engineering on process validation and design improvements.
  • Implement continuous improvement projects targeting scrap reduction and yield optimization.
  • Evaluate and recommend process changes to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Track and report quality metrics, trends, and corrective actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing, warehouse, industrial, or related experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of quality systems, including SPC, process capability (Cp/Cpk), and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to lead root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams to resolve complex defects.
  • Skill in analyzing large data sets and identifying trends that impact process performance and product quality.
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing systems, including interaction with PLC/HMI interfaces for diagnostics.
  • Ability to develop, standardize, and improve inspection processes and quality documentation.
  • Skill in training and mentoring technicians to improve team capability and consistency.
  • Ability to operate independently with strong judgment when making technical decisions that impact quality and uptime.
