Sweetwater Independent School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered 1st Grade Teacher to join the team at East Ridge. We are committed to ensuring high levels of learning for all students and are looking for an educator who is passionate about early literacy, foundational reading skills, and building strong readers from the start.
Position Overview
The 2nd Grade Reading Teacher will provide engaging, standards-aligned instruction focused on developing foundational literacy skills, including phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The ideal candidate will create a structured and supportive classroom environment that fosters a love of reading and meets the diverse needs of all learners.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality Tier 1 reading instruction aligned to state standards
  • Implement structured literacy practices, including explicit phonics instruction
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction and interventions
