Job description

We have an outstanding career opportunity for aย 1st Pressmanย to join a leading Company located in the Dallas, TX surrounding area.

The 1st Pressman will be responsible for the safe operation of the assigned printing pressย inย the daily functions of pressย operationย and press room procedures.ย This position reports directly to the press room shift supervisor.

Job Responsibilities: ย 
  • Follows instructions fromย jobย ticket and sets up and directs the setup of the press according to the Press Operator.
  • Maintains and strives for efficient production,ย meetingย company production goals and standards.
  • Assists in staging materials needed and organizing them forย production ofย each job.ย Maintains communication with the press operator regarding stock levels and materials in advanceย so as notย toย experience anyย downtime.
  • Loads all paper lifts in press, including make-ready books when assistingย onย start-up.ย Ensures that all guides are set and sheet detectors are working properly.ย 
  • Assists in registering image fit at make-ready and throughout the production run.
  • Monitors consistency of sheet at feeder, maintaining proper pull and registerย of sheet.
  • Assists press operator in checking sheet pulls during run and maintaining proper ink levels and run quantities.
  • Assists in cleaning of blankets, cylinders, coatings, rollers, fountain trays, fountain solutionsย andย washing units. Keeps press and surrounding work area clean and tidy.
  • Assistsย in keeping workflow moving during transitions fromย set upย to finished run.
  • Assists on floor with movingย ofย stock and cleaningย ofย areaย on a consistent basis.
  • Assists in maintaining inventoryย toย pressย ofย ink, rags, solventsย etc.
  • Assists in moving and marking finished loads to the finished work area of the pressroom.
  • Responsible for checking turned and winded loads. Marks side guides and ensures that no damaged paper enters the press. Measures quantities and matches them to stock pull quantities.
  • Engages in trainingย ofย pressย operation, Pressroom standardsย andย technology.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Basic Hiring Criteria:
  • ย Follows instructions from job ticket and sets up and directs the setup of the press according to the Press Operator.
  • Ability to read and apply engineering requirements on a per-job basis.
  • Full understanding of inks, chemistryย andย substrates used when operating a lithographic press.
  • Carry out instructions and perform at a high level of quality in the operation of the printed product.
  • Displayย ofย interpersonal skills with fellow employees and customers.ย 
  • Reliability through attendance, punctualityย andย attention to detail.
