Job description

Job Requirements
POSITION SUMMARY
The Security Officer I provides uncompromised safety, and superior quality, through unarmed security services to ensure the safety and security of Associates, patients, and visitors of the Health First Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) facilities.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES
  1. Deters criminal activity and misconduct; investigates suspicious situations; performs security patrols of designated areas on foot.
  2. Communicates via two (2) way radios, telephones, and computers.
  3. Watches for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
  4. Sounds alarms and calls first responders (e.g., Police Department, Fire Department) in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  5. Warns violators of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking or carrying prohibited articles.
  6. Permits authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits.
  7. Observes departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensures authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate physical security requirements.
  8. Assists associates, patients, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner; conducts patient escorts, patient watches, and provides safety escorts, as well as supporting transporting deceased to in-house morgue.
  9. Completes required shift logs and reports; complies with site post orders, and Health First policies and procedures.
  10. Inspects and prepares reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.

Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: None
  • Work Experience: Must be at least Eighteen (18) years of age with at least one (1) year of verifiable work experience preferable in security, customer service, or other related role.
  • Licensure: None
  • Certification: At least one (1) of the following certifications within thirty (30) days of start date.
  1. American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course OR
  2. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  1. Expected completion of Crisis Prevention Training within first 90 days.
  2. Physical ability to deal with or subdue mental health patients in crisis.
  3. Must be willing to carry out tasks that may require entering the hospital morgue and the roof-top helipad.
  4. Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
  5. Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
  6. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  7. Active listening skills with ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively.
  8. Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
  9. Attention to detail.
  10. Maintain required certifications, licensing, and training to achieve professional competency as appropriate for the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensure: Class "D" Security Officer License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
  • May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.
  • May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
  • May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
