About This Role

CAVE SPRING UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Weekday Preschool seeks a caring, kind, loving individual to join our staff. Must have a heart for caring for children, a passion for early childhood education, and faith formation. This part-time position is from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, in our Lambs 1s Class, our youngest group for children under 2, and runs from August 6, 2026, to May 27, 2027. The teachers at Cave Spring United Methodist Church Weekday Preschool are responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters young children's spiritual, emotional, social, and intellectual development.


Our preschool is a full-day program from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. We follow the Roanoke County Public Schools calendar for start and end dates, holidays, teacher work days, and inclement weather closings and delays. We do not participate in the scheduled three-hour early dismissals.


What You'll Do

Duties to include, but are not limited to:


  • Interacting with children and their parents in a positive and energetic manner
  • Follow the curriculum completely each day
  • Monitor the children's safety at all times
  • Enforce rules and policies
  • Maintain a neat and clean classroom
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members

Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have experience caring for young children
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, bend, sit on the floor, etc.
  • Must be able to pass FBI fingerprint and CPS background checks
  • Have the ability to remain responsible at all times for the supervision of children
  • Work cooperatively with a team
  • Model Christian character
