About the Position

As we expand nationally, we are investing in intelligent automation and applied AI to streamline operations and improve candidate experience. We are seeking a hands-on Automation & Applied AI Engineer who enjoys building workflows, integrating systems, and extending conversational AI into real business processes. This is a strong individual contributor role focused on implementation and optimization, not enterprise architecture. You will work closely with IT leadership and business stakeholders to turn requirements into reliable automation solutions

What You Will Do:

Key Responsibilities:

Workflow & Process Automation 

  • Build and maintain automation workflows using tools similar to Microsoft Power Platform/Azure Logic Apps
  • Improve and refactor existing workflows for reliability and maintainability
  • Troubleshoot automation issues in production environments
  • Ensure proper error handling and logging within automated processes 

Conversational AI & Tool Integration

  • Implement conversational AI systems using Azure OpenAI or similar LLM platforms
  • Configure and implement function calling / tool invocation to enable AI-driven actions
  • Integrate chatbot workflows with internal systems via REST APIs
  • Define structured outputs and JSON schemas to support reliable AI-to-system communication
  • Assist in building and maintaining MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers or similar middleware to extend AI capabilities 

Integrations & Data Handling 

  • Connect systems using REST APIs, webhooks, and JSON-based payloads
  • Transform and validate data across CRM, marketing, and internal systems
  • Support reporting and monitoring of automated processes
  • Act in accordance with Teachers of Tomorrow core values Perform other duties as needed.

What We are Looking For 

Required:

  • 4–7 years of experience in automation, systems integration, or process improvement
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform and/or Azure Logic Apps
  • Experience working with REST APIs and JSON
  • Exposure to LLM-based systems (Azure AI Factory, OpenAI, or similar)
  • Experience implementing function calling or tool-based AI integrations
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables

Nice to Have

  • Experience with MCP or similar AI tool-extension frameworks
  • Light backend development experience (Node.js, C#, or similar)
  • SQL knowledge
  • Power BI or Microsoft Fabric exposure
