SUMMARY

The After School Teacher’s role is to lead one of the classrooms in the after school program at St. Andrew’s. This person needs to love kids, work well in an after school environment, and be willing to adapt and be flexible on a day-to-day basis. This person will be a joyful presence on campus, embodying Christ to each family and staff member in our after school program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team First

  • Assist Director of Preschool/WATCH each week with requested tasks.
  • Be part of a team that supports the “church-wide” gatherings and functions.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and attend other staff meetings.

Essence of Responsibilities

  • Work with children in kindergarten through sixth grade in an after school setting.
  • Organize activities and plan curriculum for both outside and inside time.
  • Provide a loving, caring, nurturing Christ centered after school program with opportunities to learn and grow.

Invite

  • Work well with a team.
  • Daily setup and tear down the environment as needed.
  • Create welcoming environments where children will be inspired to learn and play

Nurture

  • Help to provide a safe place for children, both emotionally and physically.
  • Maintain a professional attitude in communicating with the teachers, parents, children, and all other staff members.
  • Teach children in line with the developmental approach and values of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

Empower

  • Complete general housekeeping tasks in order to facilitate a positive classroom environment.
  • Develop a personal growth strategy to be shared with your supervisor so you are continually empowered to grow strengths and minimize weaknesses in your job duties and functions.

OTHER GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Member of a team dedicated to Christian service and should therefore seek at all times to conduct him/herself in a way that would be pleasing to the Lord.
  • Ability to use a computer with the knowledge of Microsoft Office and Keynote programs.
  • Must be available for occasional weekend or evening events.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Minister of Children’s Ministries and/ or Director of Preschool/WATCH.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • An individual who is an active part of a Christian Church and affirms the mission, values, and mission measures of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

    EDUCATION AND OR EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Diploma.
    • 12 College units.
    • CPR and first aid (will train).
    • Mandated reporter certification (will train).
