Job description


Position Summary
The Manager of Global Firmware Engineering is responsible for leading a team of firmware engineers in Delaware, Pune, and Xi'an to expand and maintain Vertiv's Energy Storage global portfolio. This is a highly visible and critical role that is responsible for firmware development of existing and new Energy Storage battery management system. This role requires strong collaboration with Offering, Quality, Manufacturing, PMO, and Service and a close collaboration with Large Power Converter, Modular Power Converter, Advanced Technology & Microgrid engineering leads.
This position will be based onsite at our Delaware, OH location.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and monitor a team of firmware engineers in multiple design locations developing and maintaining Energy Storage products.
  • Maintain a set of engineering KPIs and track team performance and overall success against strategic goals.
  • Develop and execute product lifecycle projects including NPD, line extension, and engineered to order.
  • Champion and promote usage of DMAIC methodologies, including Pugh analysis, Design of Experiment, design and application FMEA, process capability study and root cause analysis
  • Assist in creating technical architecture, requirements, and promote ideation and innovation.
  • Identifies and pursues continuous improvement projects that deliver improved efficiency and/or quality.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical degree; Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • 10+ years technical leadership experience in the industrial firmware engineering domain.
  • Embedded Linux application and kernel-level experience.
  • Experience in agile code development and functional safety-related process experience in developing firmware.
  • Ability to quickly develop cross-functional and cross-regional relationships to achieve business objectives.
  • Process and results are oriented with proven ability to accomplish goals.
  • Excellent communications skills - written & verbal.
  • This position requires up to 20% domestic and international travel.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Lithium-Ion Battery Management System development.
  • Experience working with international teams in China and India.
