Fire Alarm Programmer
Location: Indianapolis
Reports To: Field Operations Manager
Employment: Type: Full-Time
Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Fire Alarm Programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, configuring, and maintaining fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications. You will collaborate with project managers, system engineers, and other team members to deliver exceptional service and support to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Program and configure fire alarm panels and associated devices as per project specifications and codes.
  • Conduct system tests and inspections to verify proper operation and compliance with relevant fire safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fire alarm systems, providing effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and project managers to ensure seamless system integration and performance.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of programming changes, system configurations, and maintenance records.
  • Provide technical support and training to clients and field technicians regarding fire alarm system operation and maintenance.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, code changes, and advancements in fire alarm technology to inform programming practices and recommendations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures related to fire alarm programming and installation.

Qualifications:
  • Must have high school diploma or GED, technical training preferred.
  • Proven experience in programming and troubleshooting fire alarm and detection systems.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes (National Fire Protection Association) and relevant local codes and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of electronics and electrical systems, with the ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., NICET, CFAA) are a plus.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be physically fit to do the work of the trade.
  • Must pass an appropriate drug test.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with specific fire alarm systems (e.g., Honeywell, EST, Siemens) and software applications used for programming.
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure and integration with building management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements:
  • Candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. The ability to drive to job sites / work locations may be a requirement of this position. A motor vehicle record (MVR) check will be conducted as part of the hiring process
