The Boeing Company is looking for aStructural Analysis Engineerto join the Composite Materials & Structures team in St. Louis, MO.

Position Overview:
The position is with the Composite Materials & Structures group. The group develops, integrates, and transitions advanced structural architectures and design concepts. We also advance the state of the art in methods and tools for structural analysis. We work across Boeing's product life-cycle and develop technologies for commercial aircraft, military aircraft, rotorcraft, space vehicles, UAVs, and advanced vehicle prototypes. The ideal candidate will have desire to perform research & development into new composite material and structures, such as the development of advanced methods for analysis of fracture, fatigue, strength and damage tolerance of composites. Other areas of interest could be Structural Optimization, Generative AI Design, or Advanced Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis. Desired experience with structural analysis of composite and metal structure, and finite element simulations using NASTRAN, ABAQUS, Hypermesh, Optistruct, and coding in VBA, Python, or Matlab.

The successful candidate will apply advanced structural analysis techniques to develop and validate composite aerospace components. This role requires expertise in stress, fatigue, and failure analysis of composite materials, utilizing analytical and computational tools to ensure structural integrity and compliance with industry standards.

Position Responsibilities: (Please add for your position responsibilities, bullet format)

  • Develop, integrate and document structural requirements to establish the system design
  • Guide product design and verifies structural integrity by using and developing analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools
  • Develop test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate components meet requirements and specifications
  • Define and document test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied
  • Serves as investigator on single or multiple projects of complexity and scope consistent with above criteria
  • Project management skills include cost and schedule tracking.
  • Support proposal development and new business acquisition for contracted funded R&D

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • Experience with Finite Element Modeling (FEM) tools (HyperX, ABAQUS, LSDYNA)
  • Experience with aerospace stress analysis and/or structural analysis

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • PhD degreein Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent
  • Experience with composites design and analysis methodologies
  • Research & Development experience in new materials, advanced analysis methods; specifically, fatigue & fracture, structural optimization, progressive damage and failure analysis, nonlinear finite element analysis, impact dynamics
  • Experience in a role that required strong technical, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structure (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, material characteristics, and repair techniques)

Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.
