To excel in Financial Systems, a strong background in accounting, finance, and information systems—often supported by a degree in finance, accounting, or IT—is essential. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms like SAP or Oracle, as well as certifications such as CPA or CFA, is highly valuable. These competencies ensure accurate financial data management, system optimization, and successful collaboration across departments.

They act as a bridge between technical staff and end users, translating business requirements into system configurations and enhancements. Regular collaboration may include troubleshooting issues, supporting system upgrades, and providing training to non-technical colleagues. This cross-functional teamwork is essential to maintaining accurate financial data and supporting organizational decision-making.

What are financial systems?

Financial systems refer to the processes, software, and tools that organizations use to manage, track, and report their financial data and transactions. These systems include accounting software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms, and other technologies that help ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and decision-making. Professionals working with financial systems are responsible for implementing, maintaining, and optimizing these tools to support a company's financial operations.

Job description

The Financial Systems Analyst plays a critical role in enabling accurate, scalable, and efficient financial operations across Trilon partner firms. This role focuses on optimizing and supporting Deltek Vantagepoint and related project accounting systems while partnering closely with finance and accounting teams to support day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.

This position is ideal for a systems-focused professional who enjoys owning relationships, solving complex problems, and partnering with both business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver reliable, well-informed system solutions.

  • Serve as the primary financial systems point of contact for an assigned group of Trilon partner firms, providing administration and support for Deltek Vantagepoint and related project accounting systems.
  • Research complex system and process issues, assess root causes, and develop well-documented, scalable solutions.
  • Evaluate partner firm requests and determine feasibility, recommended approach, or escalation needs in partnership with central development teams.
  • Partner with central developers and technical teams to support backend system enhancements, migrations, and conversions.
  • Modify and maintain system configurations, menus, edits, and reports to meet partner firm and enterprise requirements.
  • Test system updates, process changes, and new solutions to ensure accuracy, functionality, and readiness prior to deployment.
  • Maintain system documentation, process guides, and knowledge resources to ensure continuity, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Conduct end-user training and provide ongoing system guidance and best practices.
  • Escalate complex or cross-firm system issues to the Financial Systems Manager as appropriate.
  • Travel to Trilon partner firms to support integrations and in-person collaboration as needed.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience with Deltek Vantagepoint and project accounting is required.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems administration, project accounting, and system integrations.
  • Proven experience managing financial system support functions and resolving complex business and technical issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and documentation standards.
  • Ability to test, validate, and implement system and process improvements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly guidance.
