The Finance Shared Services Manager serves as the strategic leader of Generac's Finance Shared Services function, shaping the long term direction, scalability, and operational excellence of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Application processes. In this role, the manager drives process optimization, ensuring Finance Shared Services capabilities continuously evolve to support the organization's financial, operational, and growth objectives. Acting as a critical connector across the enterprise, the Finance Shared Services Manager partners with Accounting leadership and cross functional business stakeholders to enhance process performance, strengthen internal controls, and implement transformative improvements. This role leads high impact teams-including Cash Application, Customer Credit Memo, and Accounts Payable-by setting clear strategic priorities, developing talent, and fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Major Responsibilities
  • Selects, coaches, and develops staff by setting clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team
  • Manages performance by recognizing achievement, providing feedback, and administering corrective action when necessary
  • Develops volume and accuracy metrics and subsequently sets goals for each team member & reports on these developed metrics
  • Facilitates relationships with internal departments to collaborate on new solutions.
  • Develops strong working relationships across the company to better understand business needs and to provide superior shared services support
  • Acts as back-up for duties within Shared Services
  • Works with the Accounting Manager to create/maintain Shared Services policies and procedures
  • Owns the Shared Services process at the enterprise level
  • Strategic planning of the team - shaping the long-term direction & scalability of processes and staffing
  • Ensures vendor payments are processed successfully via wire, ACH and check by working closely with Treasury and the bank
  • Serves as AP Automation expert, and continuously identify bottlenecks and propose resolution
  • Becomes proficient with SAP to contribute to the success of the role
  • Problems solve & execute resolution while maintaining a positive work environment
  • Ensures SOX compliance related to accounting and shared services
  • Additional analysis or ad hoc projects as needed

Minimum Job Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience

Work Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or Cash Application role
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a supervisory role

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Strategic focused

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Expertise in a variety of shared service concepts (AP/AR), practices, and procedures
  • Proficient with MS Office, Excel specifically; and must have knowledge of basic Excel formatting and formulas

Work Experience
  • 1 year experience in a strategic leadership role

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Experience in a global manufacturing environment
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP
  • Experience with system conversions
  • Knowledge of and exposure to sales and use taxes and foreign currency transactions
  • Experience with check run, wire and ACH payment processing
  • Experience with Integrated computer systems
  • Experienced in issue escalation related processes
