Role Summary

The Senior Software Engineer – FP&A Systems & Data is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining financial systems, reporting tools, and data workflows that support the organization's financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions.

This role combines strong software engineering capabilities with practical experience in financial data, reporting, and modeling. The position focuses on developing scalable applications and data solutions using PHP, analytics tools, and Excel-based workflows, while improving the accuracy, accessibility, and automation of financial insights. The engineer is expected to leverage AI-assisted development tools and modern AI-driven workflows to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.


The role requires close collaboration with finance, product, and engineering teams and participation in a hybrid work environment with in-office presence in Vilnius two days per week.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop financial systems, reporting tools, and data workflows
  • Build and maintain applications using PHP and MySQL
  • Develop and optimize data pipelines and reporting solutions for FP&A use cases
  • Partner with finance stakeholders to translate financial models and requirements into scalable systems
  • Enhance and automate Excel-based processes and reporting workflows using tools such as Microsoft Excel
  • Integrate financial data across systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and accessibility
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes through technical solutions
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following engineering best practices
  • Apply Spec-Driven Development practices — authoring clear specifications that drive both human and AI-assisted implementation
  • Use AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude, Claude Code) and reusable Claude Skills to accelerate development, automate repetitive engineering tasks, and improve code quality
  • Contribute to system design and architectural decisions related to data and reporting platforms
  • Improve efficiency through automation, tooling, and process optimization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, product, QA, and DevOps
  • Participate in a rotating on-call support schedule as needed
Requirements:


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering or data-focused development roles
  • Strong experience in backend development using PHP (required) and/or Python
  • Experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL)
  • Experience building or supporting financial systems, reporting tools, or analytics platforms
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, including complex formulas, data modeling, and reporting
  • Ability to translate financial requirements into technical solutions
  • Experience working with data analysis, reporting, or BI tools
  • Strong understanding of data integrity, validation, and reconciliation practices
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude, Claude Code, or similar) as part of a daily development workflow
  • Working knowledge of Spec-Driven Development — able to write precise specifications that guide AI-assisted implementation and review AI-generated output critically

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in FP&A, finance, or accounting-related systems
  • Familiarity with financial processes such as budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Experience with data visualization or BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Exposure to AI/LLM technologies such as OpenAI for data analysis, reporting automation, or workflow enhancement
  • Experience building or customizing Claude Skills (or equivalent reusable AI capabilities) for team-wide engineering workflows
  • Experience automating reporting workflows using scripts or APIs
  • Familiarity with AWS or cloud-based data platforms
  • Experience with ETL processes or data pipeline design
