ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Job Description

Provides hands-on financial controllership support through accurate accounting, regulatory compliance, and disciplined financial reporting processes that contribute to operational excellence and the achievement of the Company's business objectives.

Financial Close, Reporting & Controls:

  • Lead and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review unaudited IFRS quarterly balance sheets and income statements.
  • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances.
  • Review cost of goods sold (COGS), including monthly accruals and inventory related entries.
  • Ensure accounting integrity of cost postings.
  • Perform and review inventory GL reconciliations.
  • Lead month end costing settlements and related controls.
  • Prepare and review payroll journal entries and payroll reconciliations.

Manufacturing & Inventory Accounting:

  • Support annual physical inventory counts and related reconciliations.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure accurate manufacturing accounting, inventory valuation, and costing.
  • Apply strong understanding of cost accounting principles across manufacturing processes.

Tax, Statutory & Regulatory Compliance:

  • Oversee preparation and filing of:
    • GST/HST and excise taxes
    • Withholding taxes
    • Corporate income tax filings
  • Prepare and maintain tax working papers and audit trail support.
  • Prepare annual corporate tax return working papers in liaison with external tax advisors and auditors.
  • Support GST/HST and customs duty reviews in collaboration with external consultants.
  • Ensure accurate and timely Statistics Canada filings.

Intercompany & AP Oversight:

  • Manage and reconcile intercompany cross charges and settlements.
  • Review and approve accounts payable payment runs.
  • Oversee AP processing activities performed by shared services teams, addressing escalated vendor inquiries and resolving issues.

  • Coordinate and manage the IFRS calendar year financial audit.
  • Coordinate IND AS fiscal year quarterly reviews and annual audit.
