Job description

AI is the new electricity, transforming every aspect of our lives. DeepLearning.AI is on a mission to empower everyone to build with AI. We offer world-class education, hands-on training, access to AI news, a collaborative community and global in-person conferences.

Weโ€™re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Director of Financ
e to own and revamp the financial infrastructure for our growing multi-entity organization. You are our ideal candidate if you have participated in building or rebuilding of finance functions from the ground up, are hands-on with modern accounting tools and consolidation workflows, and bring a strong working knowledge of and appetite to continue learning how AI can accelerate financial operations.

Reporting directly to the COO, you will lead consolidated reporting, FP&A, and accounting operations while managing a small team and partnering with external service providers. This is a high-trust, high-ownership role for a finance leader who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, and is deeply excited about building financial systems that scale.

This role is 5 days/week in our Mountain View office.

As DeepLearning.AIโ€™s Director of Finance, you will:
  • Own consolidated financial reporting
  • lead reporting across several domestic and off-shore entities and intercompany relationships. Deliver executive-ready financials to the COO and CEO within the 30-day close target.
  • Design and implement financial infrastructure
  • work with the COO to select and migrate platforms, redesign processes, and build the systems needed to support a growing multi-entity operation. You will build, not just operate.
  • Build and maintain the FP&A function
  • own budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, and dashboards. Translate financial data into clear insights that drive resource allocation and strategic decisions.
  • Lead the monthly and quarterly close process
  • manage the end-to-end close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Supervise the accounting team on day-to-day operations and serve as the point of escalation.
  • Advise the COO and CEO on financial strategy
  • be a trusted thought partner on resource allocation, investment decisions, and financial planning.
  • Leverage AI to accelerate financial operations
  • build and maintain financial automations using Google AppsScript, AI tools, and API integrations to reduce manual work while maintaining accuracy, consistent with DeepLearning.AIโ€™s AI-first operating philosophy.
In addition to having the skills to perform the duties above, you can also:
  • Write code (with AI help is ok), work with Google AppsScript and financial tools APIs, and leverage AI tools to automate financial processes and reduce manual work.
  • Communicate clearly and translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-finance executives.
  • Manage external relationships with tax advisors, auditors, insurance providers, and outsourced bookkeepers.
Your experience:
  • 6+ years in finance, with at least 2 to 3 in a multi-entity environment (VC-backed or founder-led tech preferred).
  • Has built or rebuilt financial infrastructure, not just operated within one - including platform selection, process redesign, and consolidation workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with QBO/Intuit ecosystem, modern FP&A tools, and multi-entity consolidation.
Bonus if you have:
  • Experience with transfer pricing, international tax (e.g., Taiwan subsidiary), and revenue recognition under ASC 606.
  • Startup or founder-led company experience, with comfort operating in a lean, frugal, fast-moving environment.
  • Experience managing or partnering with Big Four advisory firms.
By working with us you will:
  • Join a world-class team of experts across marketing, operations, product, and more - working to change the world.
  • Collaborate globally with colleagues across cultures and geographies.
  • Bring high-impact ideas to life with the freedom to be exceptionally creative.
  • Work directly with AI visionary Andrew Ng and help shape the future of AI education at scale.
Our Defining Values:
  • We care deeply about our learners:
We let our learner's needs guide our actions and decisions and put our mission ahead of ourselves.
  • We are great at what we do:
We strive for excellence in all dimensions, especially in the quality of the content we create and the people we hire.
  • We default to
    action:
We are comfortable acting with limited information and taking ownership of our decisions.
  • We ask why:
We ask the hard questions and are open to being in the wrong. We advocate for the best ideas, not our ideas.
  • We are honest and authentic:
We are transparent as an organization, over-communicate to build trust, and share our failures just as we do our successes.
  • We do this together:
We help each other grow and succeed and have fun at work, even in a remote environment.
We Offer:
  • DeepLearning.AI offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan, a monthly education stipend, flexible PTO, and much more.
