The Central Billing function strives to provide outstanding service to the Firm's partners, clients, and others within the Firm; therefore, the candidate must be very flexible and highly committed to quality, customer service, teamwork, and supporting Firm and department goals in a fast-paced environment.
Based in Los Angeles, Orange County, New York, or Washington D.C., the Finance & Accounting Analyst will be responsible for providing support to the Billing team.
This role reports to the Legal Finance Operations Manager.
Responsibilities include:
Partner Inventories:
  • Researching and settling work-in-progress (WIP) and on-account inventories for partners as requested by Legal Finance Operations Manager.
  • Conducting regular reviews of partner inventory aging reports to identify balances requiring action, escalation, or resolution.
  • Assisting management with obtaining information on WIP, A/R, on-account, and trust balances and recommending appropriate actions, including write-offs, transfers, and/or billing/collections opportunities.
  • Coordinating with Billing Team to apply on-account balances towards WIP and outstanding balances.
  • Supporting the escalation process for unresolved or problematic inventory, including preparation of supporting documentation for write-off approvals.
  • Assisting with inventory reconciliation and clean-up related to partner departures, lateral transitions, or matter transfers.
  • Monitoring and tracking the status of escalated inventory items through resolution, ensuring timely follow-up in accordance with firm policy.
  • Collaborating with Finance, Collections, New Matters, and Pricing teams to facilitate accurate inventory management and support coordinated resolution of complex billing matters.
  • Participating in ad hoc projects as requested by Legal Finance Operations Manager.

Qualifications:
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel, have excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Position requires outstanding written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
  • Applicant should possess an analytical mindset and should have the ability to understand, execute, and communicate complex fee agreements.

Experience:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of two years prior experience in legal billing, pricing, or finance is required.
  • Candidate must have strong technology skills, including MS Office Suite (with an emphasis on Excel), and an ability to leverage technology in work processes.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $70-95k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
