Job description

About Etched
Etched is building hardware for frontier intelligence. We co-design chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to deliver best-in-class throughput and latency across both prefill and decode workloads. Our first products are heavily focused on inference. Backed by hundreds of millions from top-tier investors and staffed by leading engineers, Etched is redefining the infrastructure layer for the fastest growing industry in history.
Job Summary
Finance Operations is the team that keeps the rails of Etched's finance machine running as the company scales -- the policies, processes, systems, and reporting that let everyone spend, buy, pay, and see the numbers cleanly and fast. Right now that work outpaces the people doing it.
You'll join as one of the first members of our Finance Operations team, partnering directly with our Finance Operations Lead to build the systems, processes, and capabilities that power the company. This is a true generalist role, with exposure to nearly every operational function in Finance and the opportunity to grow alongside the business.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and scale new finance capabilities, including budgeting, executive analytics, inventory processes, reporting, and operational tooling.
  • Design, improve, and document finance processes, controls, and policies across procurement, inventory, forecasting, and order-to-cash.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning Finance, Engineering, Operations, People, Legal, Talent, and GTM.
  • Own finance systems and automation, including NetSuite integrations, AI tooling, Ramp workflows, and finance service desk operations.
  • Support monthly business reviews, vendor reconciliations, and company-wide financial reporting and planning.
  • Act as a high-leverage generalist, jumping into new challenges as the company scales and serving as the first point of contact for finance operations.

You may be a good fit if you have
  • 3+ years of experience in finance, business operations, strategic finance, consulting, or another highly analytical operating role.
  • High ownership and comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where priorities change frequently.
  • A track record of building new processes and systems from scratch rather than simply operating existing ones.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage dozens of parallel workstreams without dropping details.
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced spreadsheet proficiency. You can quickly structure ambiguous problems and turn data into decisions.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a bias toward documentation, process design, and creating clarity.

Strong candidates may also have experience with
  • Background in industrial engineering, operations, finance, or business fits naturally.
  • Exposure to an ERP like NetSuite or spend tools like Ramp, comfort with spreadsheets and light analytics/BI, or manufacturing / hardware-ops experience.

Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision packages with generous premium coverage
    • $500 per month credit for waiving medical benefits
  • Housing subsidy of $2k per month for those living within walking distance of the office
  • Relocation support for those moving to San Jose (Santana Row)
  • Various wellness benefits covering fitness, mental health, and more
  • Daily lunch and dinner in our office
  • Unlimited compute budget subject to ROI justification

How we're different
Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We are the first inference-focused frontier AI system, betting early on transformer and transformer-like architectures and on increasing model sizes. Our addressable market is the entirety of inference, unlike many of our competitors.
We are a fully in-person team in San Jose (Santana Row), and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both and work across disciplines as needed.
