Job description

The Assistant Vice President, Finance Operations serves as a key member of the Finance leadership team and a strategic partner to the EVP & Chief Financial Officer. This role is responsible for leading core finance operations across the health system, ensuring strong financial stewardship, operational excellence, and data-driven decision-making in support of AtlantiCare's strategic priorities.

This leader brings a balanced skillset of technical finance expertise and advanced analytical capability, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that drive performance. The AVP will work closely with executive, clinical, and operational leaders to enhance transparency, improve efficiency, and support the continued growth of the system.

A key priority for this role will be supporting and optimizing AtlantiCare's transition to Oracle Fusion, ensuring the platform is fully leveraged to enhance financial processes, reporting, and real-time insights across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Integrity

  • Provide leadership and oversight of core financial operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial data.
  • Direct and continuously improve the financial close process, strengthening both efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and trust across all financial reporting.

Financial Planning, Forecasting & Performance Insights

  • Lead the development of system-wide budgeting and forecasting processes with a forward-looking, strategic lens.
  • Move beyond traditional reporting to deliver predictive insights and scenario-based planning.
  • Partner with leaders to clearly explain financial performance, risks, and opportunities in a way that drives informed decision-making.
  • Establish consistent, transparent performance reporting that connects financial outcomes to operational drivers.

Advanced Analytics & Decision Support

  • Elevate enterprise decision support capabilities, including financial modeling, cost insights, and service line performance.
  • Translate complex data into meaningful, actionable insights for executive and operational leaders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and support growth through data-driven analysis.
  • Build and enhance dashboards and tools that improve visibility and accessibility of financial information.

Oracle Fusion Optimization & Financial Transformation

  • Serve as a key finance leader in the continued implementation and optimization of Oracle Fusion.
  • Leverage the platform to drive automation, standardization, and improved data integrity.
  • Advance the use of real-time data and analytics enabled by Oracle Fusion to support decision-making.
  • Support post-go-live stabilization and continuous improvement efforts.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, including oversight of senior finance leaders such as Controllers across the system.
  • Build strong leadership bench strength and foster analytical capability within the team.
  • Create a culture that values curiosity, critical thinking, and continuous improvement.

Strategic Partnership & System Growth

  • Act as a trusted advisor to executive, clinical, and operational leaders.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships that enable alignment between financial strategy and operational execution.
  • Identify and support opportunities for growth, investment, and improved system performance.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance efficiency, optimize resource utilization, and strengthen long-term financial sustainability.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA, MBA, or advanced degree strongly preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: N/A

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience in a complex healthcare system or similarly regulated industry. Demonstrated experience in both financial operations and advanced financial analysis / decision support. Experience in multi-entity or multi-site health systems strongly preferred. Experience with ERP systems required; experience with Oracle Fusion or similar platforms strongly preferred. Proven ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights
