Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Repairs Lead Technician to serve as the technical leader of our fire protection repairs division. This role combines advanced troubleshooting and repair expertise with team leadership, customer interaction, and mentorship responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled fire alarm professional capable of independently diagnosing and repairing complex systems while directing and supporting a team of technicians. This position works closely with management, sales teams, and customers to ensure repair projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

In addition to repair work, this role may occasionally assist with fire alarm, fire sprinkler, and special hazards inspections as needed.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Repairs & Troubleshooting
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of fire alarm systems.
  • Diagnose and repair complex system faults independently.
  • Support repair and maintenance of special hazards and gas detection systems.
  • Utilize multimeters and electrical testing equipment to identify system issues.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable codes, standards, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Assist with fire sprinkler and life safety system troubleshooting when required.
Team Leadership
  • Direct daily work assignments for a team of technicians.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of repair work.
  • Provide technical guidance and field support to technicians.
  • Assist management with scheduling and prioritization of repair activities.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and professionalism.
Customer & Sales Support
  • Interface directly with customers regarding repair needs and system issues.
  • Assist sales teams in evaluating repair opportunities and developing repair proposals.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support project scoping and repair planning activities.
Mentorship & Development
  • Train and mentor junior technicians.
  • Share troubleshooting techniques, code knowledge, and best practices.
  • Help develop the technical capabilities of the service team.
  • Promote continuous learning and professional growth throughout the department.
Inspection Support
  • Perform fire alarm inspections as needed.
  • Assist with fire sprinkler and special hazards inspections when required.
  • Complete inspection documentation and deficiency reporting accurately.
Required Qualifications
  • NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Notifier fire alarm systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Fike gas detection and special hazards systems.
  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency using multimeters and diagnostic equipment.
  • Proven experience performing high-level fire alarm repairs independently.
  • Strong leadership and team development experience.
  • Excellent customer-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Experience with Notification Appliance Circuits (NAC).
