Product Compliance, Engineering Support Specialist 2
Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Product Compliance, Engineering Support Specialist 2 position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.
Job Summary:
Provides system and components design, investigation, experimentation, analysis, documenting and reporting. Requires frequent interpretation of requirements and discussion of problems with various individuals or groups working toward new or improved systems, products, devices, components, and processes. Interacts with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Shipping and Receiving and Quality on the implementation and support of products, devices, components, and processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Prepares and coordinates the submittals for 3rd party approvals for electronic assemblies.
  2. Oversees the execution of testing required for 3rd party approvals.
  3. Interprets the results, analyzes failures and coordinates resolution.
  4. Coordinates technical staff in the execution of testing and validation for compliance of products for 3rd party approvals.
  5. Writes procedures for testing, maintains records of equipment required for 3rd party approvals.
  6. Oversees testing protocol and coordinates the product design validation testing.
  7. Coordinates product or system layout including detailed drawings and schematics.
  8. Maintains and modifies current products to meet customer needs.
  9. Manages completion of all documentation and test equipment required to produce products including creation of assembly drawings, bills of materials in the Fike business system, test equipment and procedures, and any other documentation required.
  10. Writes procedures for the operation of new or existing processes.
  11. Writes technical reports on findings, prepares charts, graphs and schematics which describes the product or process, operating characteristics and malfunctions.
  12. Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  13. Maintains continuity among engineering group by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
  14. Travels to various customer facilities when required.
  15. Troubleshoots problem sites.
  16. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and seminars, reviewing professional publications, networking and participating in professional societies.
  17. Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stretch, bend, kneel, stoop and climb a ladder. The employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds using appropriate moving devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to bright flashing lights (strobe testing), electrical voltage and live circuits while using appropriate personal protective equipment. Works in a temperature controlled environment. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
Job Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in electronics technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years or more of specifically related experience. Knowledge of engineering principles, concepts, practices and theories. Proficient computer skills. Knowledge of MS Office. (Windows, Word and Excel). Knowledge of Google Suite. Demonstrated ability in using multi-meter, oscilloscope and other electronic test equipment. Familiar with IPC-A-610 and IPC-JSTD. Thorough knowledge of electronic field practices, computer hardware and office productivity software. Strong mechanical dexterity.
PREFERRED: Experience or education in the field of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire protection or other related special hazard protection. Knowledge of CAD. Understanding of ASME, NFPA, UL, FM. ISO/EN standards and other related code restrictions.
Compensation: The pay range for this position is $67,527 to $84,402 per year. May increase depending on the level of experience of the candidate.
