Residential Field Operations Supervisor

Pay range $78,000-$$87,500 a year.

Job Summary

TheResidentialField Operations Supervisorwill be a versatile team member who ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of field activities. This individual will be expected to fully understand and be able to drive the route as needed,assistin the training of new and existing drivers, and support dispatch operations during peak times or staffing shortages. In addition, the Supervisor will take on key responsibilities to ease the workload of management, acting as a bridge between field staff and leadership. This role requires strong leadership, flexibility, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.This position is Safety Sensitive. It requires drug and alcohol testing in compliance with 49 CFR part382,this includes marijuana. This position also requires an active DOT health card. To get a DOT health card, candidates must have a valid MinnesotaDriversLicense.

Primary Job Duties

  • Drive and support residential routes as needed to support daily operations, or cover employee absences.
  • Assistin the training and ongoing development of the residential driving team on equipment operation, safety protocols, route structure,in accordance withWaltersoperations and customer service expectations.
  • Provide backup support to dispatch, including route planning, and issue resolution.
  • Monitor driver performance including route completion, time management and compliance with safety and service standards.
  • Conduct regular interval check-ins and annual reviews with residential drivers.
  • Act as a field-level extension of management, relaying updates, enforcing companypoliciesand addressing driver concerns.
  • Do safety audits as necessary on route or with equipment.
  • Conduct ad hoc training within operations and crossdepartmentallyto ensure clear understanding of expectations.
  • Take on select operation responsibilities from route managers to help reduce workload and improve response times.
  • Maintainaccuraterecords of training sessions, meetings, and route audits.

Education and Experience

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or higher with no air brake restriction and a clean driving record.
  • To be a behind the wheel instructor you must have at least 6months'experience as a Commercial Motorized Vehicle (CMV) driver.
  • Preferred2 years of experience in residential waste collection.
  • Strong working knowledge of route structure, equipment operation, and safety protocols related to residential waste collection.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and support drivers, enforce policies, and liaise with management.
  • Ability to plan routes, resolve logisticalissuesand make real time decisions under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability tomonitordriver performance, provide constructive feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and act as a trusted representative of management.

Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including rain, snow, cold temperatures, heat, humidity, and other seasonal weather elements while safely performing field and route support duties.

  • Flexibility to cover driving routes on short notice and adapt to changing operational needs.
  • Commitment to upholding safety and service standards.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs., and very occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry up to 100 lbs., with frequent bending, twisting, reaching, repetitive motion, climbing in and out of equipment, and sitting for long periods of time.

  • Ability to work in both office and field settings.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT healthevaluationand physical assessment.

This is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing requirements in compliance with 49 CFR Part 382, including marijuana testing.
