Overview:

The Head Fencing Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive and educational high school fencing program. This includes coaching student-athletes in foil, épée, and/or sabre, fostering sportsmanship, and promoting skill development, teamwork, and personal growth. The coach will oversee all aspects of the program, including practices, competitions, and program administration.


Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and lead practices and training sessions for student-athletes of varying skill levels
  • Provide technical instruction in fencing techniques, tactics, and rules
  • Develop and implement season plans, including conditioning, skill progression, and competition preparation
  • Coach and supervise athletes during meets and championships
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture
  • Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and academic accountability among athletes
  • Coordinate team logistics, including scheduling and equipment management
  • Maintain and inventory fencing equipment; ensure proper safety protocols are followed
  • Collaborate with school administration, athletic department staff, and parents
  • Organize team meetings, events, and end-of-season recognition
