Assistant Football Coach (Wide Receivers)
Reports To: Head Football Coach and Athletics Director
Department: Athletics
Classification: FT Exempt
Job Summary:
The Assistant Football Coach will assist the Head Football Coach with all duties related to operating the football program, including but not limited to recruiting student-athletes, planning, and executing practice sessions, game preparation, game-day coaching, academic monitoring, and managing game day responsibilities. As a member of the athletics department this person will have additional responsibilities assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Lawrence University is a member of the NCAA Division III, Midwest Conference. Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, and Midwest Fencing Conference. Lawrence currently fields teams in 24 intercollegiate sports with approximately 425 scholar-athletes and is committed to a well-balanced program promoting excellence in both.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach and other staff to support offensive game planning.
  • Recruit high caliber student-athletes compatible with Lawrence University's mission and the specific goals of the football program.
  • Assist in advising student-athletes and staff of applicable NCAA, MWC, and football specific rules, regulations, and University policies and ensure compliance of such regulations.
  • Coordinate the review of practice and game video for the team.
  • Manage strength and conditioning program for the team.
  • Monitor student-athlete academic performance and implement team, Athletics department, and University measures to support their academic performance.
  • Meet regularly with the student-athletes about academics and other matters pertaining to their enrollment and educational progress.
  • Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when conducting team activities.
  • Cooperate with the University Athletic Trainers to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services.
  • Coordinate specific activities in preparation for scheduled competition.
  • Attend all team practices and home and away contests.
  • Assume responsibility to student-athlete compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Attend appropriate athletics departmental staff meetings.
  • Game day manager for an assigned sport.
  • Assume additional duties as assigned by the Athletics Director.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Successful coaching experience.
  • Experience recruiting at the college level.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Strength and Conditioning Certification
  • First aid and AED certification needed prior to conducting athletics related activities.
  • Must have successful completion of criminal and MVR background check, meet University Authorized Driver Policy requirements, and favorable completion of reference checks
