Job description

Engineering Support for Fastening and Joining
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
• Strong knowledge of mechanical joints, fastening systems, and joining technologies
• Experience in product development, manufacturing support, and issue resolution for mechanical assemblies
• Proficiency in joint analysis, tolerance stack-up, and engineering calculations
• Hands-on experience with CAD modeling and engineering drawings
• Working knowledge of PLM systems, preferably ENOVIA, for part release and change management
• Familiarity with automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments
• Experience collaborating with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams
• Understanding of fastener standardization, catalog management, and component commonality initiatives
• Knowledge of testing, validation, data analysis, and technical report generation
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills for production and field quality issues
Roles & Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary liaison between engineering teams, contract manufacturers, and external fastener consultants to resolve fastening and joining issues across multiple programs
• Support supply chain activities by evaluating, approving, and releasing alternate fasteners to mitigate supply constraints
• Collaborate with Design Release Engineers to ensure robust joint designs and drive fastener standardization and commonality initiatives
• Perform joint analysis and engineering calculations using established tools and methodologies
• Support development of new fasteners, including CAD model creation, engineering drawings, and formal release through ENOVIA
• Provide manufacturing support for active vehicle builds by resolving fastening and joining issues on production and assembly lines
• Partner with test teams to support validation activities, analyze test data, generate graphs, and prepare technical reports
• Conduct root cause analysis of field failures and recommend corrective engineering solutions
• Engage with external domain experts and consultants for specialized fastening and joint design challenges
• Ensure timely execution of assigned tasks while maintaining quality, compliance, and engineering best practices
Generic Managerial Skills, If any
Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical teams (design, software) and non-technical teams (operations, technicians).
Education
BS in Mechanical Engineering (EE), Automotive Engineering (ME) or equivalent practical experience.
