Job description

The Jr. Manufacturing Technician will be responsible for providing support to daily operations, minimizing production downtime, and resolving technical issues related to torque systems in the production of the Company's world-class vehicles. Excellent attendance is crucial to the team's success. The candidate must have the ability to work with various departments across General Assembly. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, quality, and supplier partners across multiple aspects of the manufacturing process. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to establish effective working relationships both within the Company and externally.

You Will:

  • Provide technical support and guidance on fastening-related matters
  • Support troubleshooting of basic issues related to fastening systems
  • Follow standardized procedures and ensure adherence to quality control standards
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new skills and adapt to new environments
  • Be comfortable learning new technologies
  • Maintain flexibility to support any shift, including day, night, and swing shifts, as needed; weekend and holiday work may be required
  • Perform line audits to confirm adherence to basic standards such as labels, sockets, tooling inspections, and preventive maintenance
  • Maintain punctuality and reliable attendance
  • Follow a required, specific sequence of steps in a process repetitively for extended periods
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Provide support with data interpretation for quality-related issues
  • Work as an integral part of the Production Fastening Team to ensure smooth operations and efficient output
  • Collaborate with different departments to meet production goals
  • Support line calls related to torque systems
  • Perform torque surveillance procedures and reporting
  • Conduct calibration for several types of torque systems per Work Instruction Standards (WIS)
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers to support process change implementations
  • Set up, install, and maintain torque equipment to meet quality goals
  • Implement reaction plans for system damage in accordance with General Assembly (GA) procedures
  • Work with Fastening Engineers to inventory torque systems, accessories, and spare parts
  • Strictly adhere to safety protocols and promote a safe working environment
  • Adhere to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, including required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including regular equipment maintenance and cleaning
  • Assist with continuous improvement of fastening processes and identify opportunities for increased efficiency

Preferred:

  • Can-do attitude to support production team members and team leads
  • Sense of urgency when responding to calls from production lines
  • Computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to follow and complete work instructions accurately
  • Experience performing product and process audits
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot technical issues

You Bring:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Good physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Physical Requirements (may include but are not limited to):

  • Standing: Frequent/intermittent, up to 8 hours per day
  • Walking: Frequent/intermittent, up to 8 hours per day
  • Sitting: Occasional/intermittent, up to 2 hours per day
  • Lifting: Up to 50 lbs occasionally/intermittently
  • Carrying: Up to 50 lbs occasionally/intermittently
  • Pushing/Pulling: Between 50-100 lbs occasionally/intermittently
