Job description

Sales Manager, Fasteners North America

Location: Oakville, Ontario
Territory: Canada and the United States
Compensation: $75,000 base salary plus tiered sales commission of 1% to 2%
Travel: Regular travel throughout North America

You already know the fastener industry from the inside.

You have worked directly with customers, discussed applications, reviewed specifications, and learned that selling the right fastening solution involves much more than quoting a part number. You understand how loads, corrosion, materials, testing requirements, and installation conditions influence product selection.

Now, you may be ready for more.

More ownership. More independence. More influence over the direction of a business. And a genuine opportunity to grow into leadership rather than waiting for the person above you to move on.

Dufast North America is looking for an energetic and entrepreneurial Sales Manager to help build its fastener segment business across Canada and the United States.

This is not simply an opportunity to inherit and maintain a list of accounts. It is an opportunity to take ownership of a growing North American product category, develop the market, build a team around it, and potentially progress into operational and executive leadership.

The Opportunity

Dufast North America is a global supplier of certified screws, bolts, anchors, rivets, and customized fastening solutions for demanding construction and industrial applications.

The company works closely with contractors, fabricators, consultants, and other industry partners to identify the right fastening solution for each application. Its approach combines technical product knowledge, global procurement capabilities, engineering-led selection, and reliable international supply.

A strong foundation has already been established. Dufast has completed extensive market research, developed more than $10 million in customer quotations, received encouraging market feedback, and begun product sampling and testing with prospective customers.

You will take that momentum into the market, initially focusing on Canada before continuing the expansion throughout key U.S. regions.

Your first-year sales objective will be approximately $1 million, with plans to grow the business toward $5 million shortly thereafter.

What You Will Do

As the Sales Manager, you will initially focus on building sales, developing customers, and managing opportunities from inquiry through delivery.

You will:

  • Develop new customers across Canada and the United States
  • Grow relationships with existing and prospective accounts
  • Sell certified screws, bolts, anchors, rivets, and customized fastening solutions
  • Focus on construction, curtain wall, structural steel, roofing, cladding, façade, siding, architectural panel, and related applications
  • Visit customers to understand their technical and commercial requirements
  • Review engineering drawings, architectural specifications, loads, corrosion requirements, materials, and testing criteria
  • Coordinate product samples, testing, specifications, approvals, and supporting documentation
  • Prepare quotations, proposals, presentations, forecasts, and account-development plans
  • Manage the customer relationship from initial inquiry through procurement, logistics, delivery, and follow-up
  • Work closely with global suppliers and internal finance, procurement, estimating, logistics, and operations resources
  • Identify and develop independent sales agents and manufacturers’ representatives in key North American territories
  • Represent Dufast at customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events
The Longer-Term Opportunity

This role is designed for someone who wants to grow beyond individual sales.

As the business expands, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a North American team that could include employees, Account Managers, sales agents, independent representatives, and operational support.

You will also gain broader exposure to procurement, global supplier relationships, pricing, logistics, inventory, warehousing, and operations.

A strong performer could progress into COO-level responsibility within approximately three to five years, potentially leading a team of six or more people. As your responsibilities and the business grow, there is an opportunity to substantially increase your compensation and continue progressing toward future CEO-level leadership.

This position may be especially appealing if you have imagined owning or running a business one day. Dufast will provide the platform, support, global supply relationships, and market opportunity. You will bring the industry knowledge, customer credibility, and hunger to build it.

What You Will Have Behind You

Although you will be expected to take ownership of the market, you will not be building without support.

Dufast will provide:

  • An established Oakville home base
  • Global manufacturing and supply partnerships
  • A broad portfolio of standard and customized fastening solutions
  • Existing warehousing and logistics capabilities
  • Finance, procurement, estimating, and operational support
  • Business-development research and lead-generation assistance
  • An established database of prospective customers and industry contacts
  • Existing independent representatives in several North American markets
  • Direct access to senior leadership
  • The opportunity to influence how the business and team are built
Who We Are Looking For

You are an ambitious fastener-industry sales professional with approximately five or more years of relevant experience.

You may have developed your industry knowledge through procurement, inside sales, product support, technical sales, or customer service before progressing into Account Management. You now want greater responsibility for developing customers, growing revenue, and eventually leading a business.

You take initiative and follow through. You know how to use internal resources effectively, but you do not wait for someone else to move an opportunity forward.

You are comfortable opening doors, visiting customers, asking technical questions, and remaining involved until the product has been successfully delivered.

Most importantly, you have the ambition and maturity to grow beyond sales into team, operational, and executive leadership.

Required Experience

To be considered, you must have:

  • Approximately five or more years of relevant fastener-industry experience
  • Direct experience selling fasteners, anchor bolts, or closely related fastening solutions
  • Recent experience in Account Management, technical sales, territory sales, business development, or a similar customer-facing role
  • Experience visiting and managing customers directly
  • Knowledge of structural loads, corrosion, materials, product testing, and technical specifications
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and architectural specifications
  • Experience developing new business rather than solely servicing established accounts
  • The confidence to work with contractors, fabricators, consultants, engineers, procurement professionals, and technical decision-makers
  • The ability to manage an opportunity from initial inquiry through quotation, supply, delivery, and follow-up
  • A valid driver’s licence and passport
  • The ability to travel regularly throughout Canada and the United States

An engineering degree is preferred but not mandatory. Equivalent technical knowledge developed through direct fastener-industry experience will be considered.

Experience working with independent sales agents or manufacturers’ representatives is an asset. Previous formal people-management experience is not required.

Compensation

Dufast North America offers:

  • A base salary of $75,000
  • Tiered sales commission of approximately 1% to 2%
  • Increasing earning potential as sales performance grows
  • A clear opportunity to progress into operational and executive leadership
Before You Apply

This is a highly specialized fastener-industry opportunity.

General industrial sales, construction sales, building-material sales, or account-management experience will not be sufficient on its own.

Applicants must have direct experience selling fasteners, anchor bolts, or closely related fastening solutions. You must understand the market, have experience visiting customers, and be comfortable participating in technical conversations about product selection and project requirements.

If you know the fastener industry and want the opportunity to build and eventually lead a North American business, we would like to hear from you.
