Essential Job Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to manage the technical (veterinary technician / veterinary assistant) staff in the Equine and Farm Animal Center (EFAVC) ensuring they provide the ultimate teaching environment and excellent patient care.
The primary purpose of this position is to manage the technical (veterinary technician / veterinary assistant) staff in the Equine and Farm Animal Center (EFAVC) ensuring they provide the ultimate teaching environment and excellent patient care.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Ensure development of staff professionally.
  • Assist with teaching fourth year veterinary students.
  • Practice appropriate infectious disease prevention policies, and maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe hospital environment.
  • Coordinate the staff and consult with clinicians on a daily basis, ensure that all patients receive quality care in a timely manner, and to ensure that excellent customer service is provided to both internal and external customers.
  • It is imperative to maintain excellent communication with supervisors in all areas of the VH to ensure that protocols are being followed for all ancillary services and ensure good working relations.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor's degree and two years of general research experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in an advanced large animal facility or environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a tertiary care facility or large animal referral hospital is strongly preferred.
  • Registered/Licensed/Certified by any state strongly preferred.
Required License or Certification
