Their primary role is to facilitate communication, provide support, and help families navigate systems to access necessary resources and services. They may assist with problem-solving, advocate for families’ needs, and provide information about available programs. Family Liaisons play a critical role in building trust and ensuring that families feel heard and supported. Their work can improve outcomes for both families and the organizations they serve.

How does a family liaison typically collaborate with school staff and external agencies to support students and families?

A Family Liaison acts as a bridge between families, school staff, and community agencies to ensure students receive comprehensive support. They regularly communicate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to address student needs and may facilitate meetings or workshops for families. Additionally, they often coordinate with external organizations to connect families with resources such as counseling, healthcare, or housing assistance. This collaborative approach helps create a supportive environment for students and builds strong relationships between home, school, and the community.
