Job description

If you're the kind of person who takes pride in keeping a home running seamlessly, notices what needs attention before being asked, and genuinely enjoys creating order behind the scenes, this could be the perfect position for you! A wonderful, loyal family in Durham is seeking an experienced, highly dependable Family/Household Manager to become a trusted, long-term part of their household.
This role is primarily focused on household management rather than childcare or deep cleaning. The family already maintains a beautiful, organized, and pristine home and is looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of the day-to-day details that keep it that way. They want someone who understands what it takes to maintain a busy household and enjoys being the person who keeps everything organized, stocked, prepared, and running smoothly.
A major component of this position is laundry and ironing. The ideal candidate must be experienced and confident ironing clothing and genuinely enjoy doing it, with excellent attention to detail and proper garment care. Responsibilities will also include managing family laundry, organizing closets and clothing, handling dry cleaning, grocery shopping, keeping household essentials stocked, running errands, managing packages, returns and mailing, healthy meal planning and preparation, light household upkeep, and maintaining organization throughout the home. There is no deep cleaning required, but this person should be comfortable handling the everyday tasks involved in maintaining a polished, well-kept household.
The family has three older children-two high schoolers and one middle schooler-so there will also be some family-assistant responsibilities, including school pickups, transportation, and helping manage the family calendar. A family vehicle will be provided for work-related driving.
Autonomy is incredibly important to this family. They are looking for someone who can learn how their household operates and then confidently take initiative, anticipate needs, manage their responsibilities without constant direction, and actively look for ways to make Mom and Dad's lives easier. Professionalism, punctuality, discretion, reliability, and excellent judgment are essential.
The ideal candidate is polished, organized, proactive, emotionally intelligent, and comfortable working independently. Someone with previous Household Manager, Family Assistant, Personal Assistant, or similar private-home experience would be an excellent fit. Native Spanish fluency and a willingness to speak Spanish with the children would be an amazing bonus.
Above all, this family wants a true household professional who takes pride in their work, enjoys caring for a home, and wants to become a valued part of the family team for years to come. They are hoping to find the right person ASAP!
Schedule:
Monday-Friday
12:30 PM-6:30 PM
