Factory Worker Jobs in California (NOW HIRING)

One of the country's leading payment technology innovators is searching for a Factory Program Manager to join their advanced hardware team onsite in San Jose, CA. In this role, you will act as the essential bridge between core engineering and factory operations, driving the execution of next-generation hardware builds and advanced computing platforms. You will steer day-to-day manufacturing activities, coordinate critical new product introduction (NPI) builds, and troubleshoot real-time technical bottlenecks on the production floor, playing a vital role in transforming complex hardware concepts into scalable, world-class physical products.

This exciting opportunity to shape leading-edge hardware programs begins as a 6-month W2 contract with strong potential for extension or conversion. The job is based onsite 5 days per week in San Jose, CA, and offers holiday pay along with access to other competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary onsite operational leader and direct liaison between the engineering team and the contract manufacturing partner.
• Direct daily factory floor operations, tracking new product introduction (NPI) builds, design of experiments (DOEs), quality testing, failure analysis, and parts deliveries.
• Establish and maintain an integrated master schedule alongside a prioritized open-issues tracker, defining dependencies, owners, and key milestones.
• Lead regular operational alignment meetings, delivering clear visibility into project status, milestones, resource constraints, and upcoming deliverables.
• Proactively resolve roadblocks, manage critical action items to completion, and escalate schedule risks before they impact key release targets.
• Optimize factory resource allocation, managing technicians, test stations, specialized fixtures, floor space, and onsite engineering assistance.
• Drive end-to-end build readiness by verifying that documentation, bill of materials (BOM), tooling, and staffing are fully prepared ahead of line startup.
• Oversee the capture, organization, and distribution of testing data, DOE findings, and failure analysis reports across technical teams.
• Partner with Facilities, Operations, and IT to continually refine workspace infrastructure, production workflows, and laboratory environments.

Skills & Experience

• Technical degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in hardware program management, manufacturing operations, factory management, or NPI delivery.
• Demonstrated background working onsite within contract manufacturing environments, ideally involving electronics or PCBA production.
• Solid technical grasp of hardware manufacturing cycles, including surface-mount technology (SMT), system integration, final testing, and ramp.
• Proven track record of managing multifaceted technical workstreams simultaneously under tight schedules and shared resource constraints.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with a disciplined approach to driving issues to closure.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with ease collaborating between design engineers and production personnel.
• Self-directed mindset with the ability to bring clarity, process, and organization to dynamic factory settings.
• Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in San Jose, CA.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience supporting DOEs, hardware validation protocols, and component-level failure analysis.
• Familiarity with advanced thermal architectures, liquid/immersion cooling, power delivery electronics, ASIC hardware, or high-density compute infrastructure.
• Background participating in factory layout planning, cleanroom or lab expansions, and manufacturing floor optimization.
• Practical knowledge of material readiness tracking, component kitting, and electronics supply chain coordination.
• Previous experience partnering with top-tier global Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) providers.
