Job description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


1. Clinical Operations & Quality

โ€ข Manages day-to-day operations of Telemetry and Med-Surg Telemetry units.

โ€ข Ensures delivery of safe, effective, evidence-based nursing care.

โ€ข Oversees falls, pressure injury, CAUTI, CLABSI, sepsis and stroke measures.

โ€ข Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, CDPH standards.

โ€ข Leads quality improvement initiatives and monitors documentation compliance.

โ€ข Investigates clinical incidents and patient complaints.

2. Staffing & Workforce Management

โ€ข Develops staffing plans aligned with census and acuity.

โ€ข Oversees scheduling, productivity, and labor management.

โ€ข Manages hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and corrective action.

โ€ข Ensures telemetry competency validation and ACLS proficiency.

โ€ข Supports shared governance and engagement initiatives.

3. Financial Stewardship

โ€ข Develops and manages departmental budgets.

โ€ข Monitors labor productivity, overtime, premium pay, and agency utilization.

โ€ข Conducts FTE and staffing variance analysis.

โ€ข Implements cost containment strategies without compromising quality.

โ€ข Participates in capital planning for telemetry equipment.

4. Patient Throughput & Care Coordination

โ€ข Collaborates with case management and interdisciplinary teams.

โ€ข Monitors LOS, GMLOS variance, and discharge efficiency.

โ€ข Supports patient flow and capacity management initiatives.

5. Strategic Leadership & Culture

โ€ข Aligns unit goals with hospital strategic priorities.

โ€ข Fosters a culture of accountability and collaboration.

โ€ข Represents the unit in interdisciplinary meetings.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education (Indicate minimum education or degree required.)

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Preferred Education (Indicate preferred education or degree required.)

  • Masterโ€™s degree (MSN, MHA, MBA) preferred

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications (Indicate minimum years of job experience, skills or abilities required for the job.)

  • 3โ€“5 years acute care RN experience.
  • 2โ€“3 years progressive nursing leadership experience.
  • Experience in telemetry and/or medical-surgical acute care required.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital KPIs and regulatory standards.

Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications (Indicate preferred years of job experience, skills or abilities required for the job.)

  • Minimum of three (3) yearsโ€™ experience in functional area.
  • NE-BC, NEA-BC, CNL, FACHE or equivalent Professional Nursing Leadership Certification from a nationally recognized organization upon hire preferred

Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation (List any licensure or certification required and specify name of agency.)

  • Current California RN license.
  • American Heart Association BLS Card
  • American Heart Association ACLS Card
  • EKG Certification
  • Assault Response Competency (ARC) required (within 30 days of hire)
  • NIH Stoke certification required 30 days from date of hire.
  • Current Los Angeles County Fire Card (or must be obtained within 30 days of employment)
  • NE-BC or NEA-BC within 1 year of hire
