What is a Facebook Monitor job?

A Facebook Monitor job involves reviewing and moderating content to ensure it aligns with community guidelines and platform policies. Responsibilities may include removing harmful posts, identifying spam, and flagging inappropriate behavior. Monitors often work for Facebook directly or through third-party moderation companies. Strong attention to detail, knowledge of platform policies, and the ability to handle sensitive content are key skills for this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Facebook Monitor position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Facebook Monitor, you need keen attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, and familiarity with social media platforms, often supported by experience in content moderation or digital customer service. Experience with content management systems, moderation tools, and incident tracking software such as Meta's Community Operations dashboard is highly valued. Strong communication, decision-making, and stress-management skills set top candidates apart in this role. These competencies ensure that platform guidelines are enforced effectively, maintaining a safe and respectful online environment.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a Facebook Monitor?

A Facebook Monitor typically spends their day reviewing reported content, responding to flagged posts, and ensuring all material complies with Facebook’s community standards. You may use specialized moderation tools to assess text, images, and videos, quickly deciding whether content should be removed or escalated for further review. Team collaboration is common, as Monitors often work closely with supervisors and other moderators to discuss challenging cases or emerging issues. This role also requires tracking patterns in user reports and contributing to ongoing improvements in platform safety. Staying adaptable and organized is key, as the pace and nature of flagged content can vary from day to day.
