Job description

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist proficient in multiple surgical specialties for a Level II Trauma Center's surgery unit on a weekend schedule.
Job Details
• Work in a hospital surgery unit within a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center,
• 15-bed unit with a 1:1 patient ratio,
• Patient population includes minimal pediatric cases, typically orthopedic,
• 12-hour day shifts scheduled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday beginning at 6:30 am, totaling 36 hours per week,
• No floating required,
• On-call responsibilities for all service lines except Open Heart, typically one day per week (3p-7a) and one weekend per month (Friday 3p to Monday 7a),
• Expected to work one holiday per contract,
• Uses Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors,
Job Requirements
• Strong experience required in Trauma (excluding burns), Neuro, General, Vascular, ENT, Ortho spine, Gyn, Urology, Plastics, breast, and eye surgeries,
• Robotics experience required for both General and Neuro cases, with strong preference for Mazor or DaVinci XI systems,
• Ortho joint center experience preferred but not required,
• CVOR experience needed only if supporting Open Heart cases,
• For Vascular Tech roles, competency required in AAA, carotids, AVG, AVF, Fem-Fem bypass, and aorta bi-fem procedures, with endovascular experience preferred,
• Certification preferred but not required; license required if applicable,
• Minimum 2 years of experience required for first-time travelers,
• Must be proficient across all surgical specialties supported by the unit,
Additional Information
• Support provided on the unit includes ORA staff, desk assistants, FAs, charge nurses, and service line team leaders,
• Orientation consists of 2 weeks on day shift, during which buddy call is expected,
• Green scrubs provided by the facility,
• First-time travelers considered if they have at least 2 years of experience,
• Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted,
• Former perm staff must wait 6 months before being eligible to return as a traveler
