Job description

The future you want is within reach. Let’s build it together.

At PCL Construction Enterprises, Inc., part of the PCL Family of Companies (PCL), we don’t just build projects—we build opportunities, careers and communities. We are 100% employee-owned, every employee has a stake in our success, and that shared commitment drives how we work, grow and lead in the construction industry.

We’re a team of builders who care deeply about what we create and who we build it with. That includes you. We are not only investing in what’s next in construction, we are investing in what’s next for your career.

As an External Communications Specialist for PCL Construction Enterprises, Inc. in Denver, Colorado, you’ll develop content for some of the most complex work we do — including advanced manufacturing, data centers, public-private partnerships, and more. You'll play a key role in the thought leadership strategy and help write feature stories highlighting construction innovation.

Why Choose PCL?

Choose a career with rewards that matter. PCL’s total rewards are designed to support your growth, well-being and future success—because when you succeed, we all do.

Our offerings could include:

  • Employee ownership opportunities that build long-term value
  • Annual discretionary performance bonuses
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Industry-leading medical, dental and vision benefits
  • Prescription drug coverage and telemedicine services
  • Life, AD&D and disability insurance
  • Paid parental leave and family care support
  • HSA or FSA for healthcare, dependent care and transportation
  • Mental health and wellness support, including Employee Assistance Programs
  • Career growth pathways, leadership development and mentorship programs
  • Access to world-class training through PCL’s College of Construction and professional development courses
  • Ongoing opportunities to learn new skills, explore different roles and grow your career across sectors and regions

Here's how an External Communications Specialist for PCL Construction Enterprises, Inc. within US Head Office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop story opportunities that elevate PCL’s position in key sectors.
  • Partner with project teams, engineers, and operations leaders to surface project milestones, business priorities, and employee stories that support external communications goals.
  • Write and edit content for PCL’s external website and owned channels, including feature articles, project profiles, sector page copy, employee stories, and announcements.
  • Translate complex construction and technical topics into clear, compelling content for external audiences.
  • Contribute to editorial planning and content strategy, identifying new story angles, content formats, and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Maintain strong editorial standards, ensuring all content is accurate, on-brand, and aligned with AP style.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field.
  • 4-7 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, in a corporate or agency setting; AEC industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing measurable communications programs.
  • Expert in AP style with superb writing, editing, and proofreading skills; ability to write for technical industries without losing accessibility or reader engagement.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with SEO or structured/answer-first content strategy; AEO experience a plus, not required.
  • Collaborative and stakeholder-focused, with the ability to build and sustain positive working relationships with internal and external partners across functions and geographies.
  • Strong communicator and creative thinker with the ability to use both data and intuition to inform editorial and strategic decisions.
  • Comfortable working independently on complex initiatives while staying aligned with team and organizational strategy.
  • Willingness to travel and work with teams across U.S. districts and Centers of Excellence, approximately 5–10% of the position.

The estimated salary range for this role is $67,000-$86,500, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.  We anticipate this requisition will be open for a minimum of five days, though it may be open for a longer period of time. We encourage your prompt application.
