Description
We are looking for a collaborative, creative, and flexible professional to support the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of 4-H Youth Development programs in Frederick County. The ideal candidate will work closely with Extension faculty, volunteers, schools, community partners, families, and youth to create educational opportunities that promote leadership, citizenship, healthy living, workforce readiness, STEM, and agricultural literacy.
What You'll Do:
As a 4-H Extension Educator, you will:
  • Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate educational programs and youth development opportunities in collaboration with Extension faculty, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Support clubs, camps, school enrichment programs, special events, and community education opportunities.
  • Assist with contests, exhibits, recognition programs, and fair activities.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, recognizing, and retaining volunteers.
  • Support club leaders and maintain documentation and compliance records.
  • Maintain positive relationships with families, volunteers, and stakeholders.
  • Assist with reporting, inventory, purchasing, registration, and event logistics.
  • Manage awards and achievement documentation.
  • Develop newsletters, promotional materials, and social media communications.
  • Support outreach and recruitment efforts with schools and community partners.

What We're Looking For:
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED. A bachelor's degree in Youth Development, Education, Agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and online systems.
  • Experience with clerical and computer-based administrative tasks, program coordination, and program management.
  • Experience in youth development, education, program coordination, volunteer management, community outreach, event planning, or related fields is preferred.
  • Experience working with youth-serving organizations, schools, camps, agricultural education programs, or volunteer-based programs is desirable.

The position requires a flexible work schedule to support youth programs, volunteer activities, camps, fairs, competitions, and community outreach events, including frequent evening and weekend work and occasional overnight assignments.
Supplemental Information
Physical Demands: Requires light physical effort, including walking, sitting, bending, reaching, gripping, and occasionally handling materials up to 50 pounds. Requires the ability to work with written/computer data, operate equipment, and monitor surroundings.
Environmental Conditions: Work is performed in a heated/air-conditioned office, school, community, camp, and outdoor settings, and may involve exposure to varying weather and environmental conditions.
