Job Description: Solar Service Program Manager
Company: Venture Home Solar
Location: Stamford, CT (with travel to local branches)
Job Type: Full-Time
Role Overview
Venture Home Solar is seeking a highly skilled and entrepreneurial Solar Service Program Manager to lead, optimize, and scale our Service Department. In this critical leadership role, you will act as a program manager bridging the gap between field execution and operational strategy.
Your primary objective is to run a highly profitable, efficient service department. You will leverage your vast solar installation and roofing experience to solve complex field issues, while simultaneously collaborating with our development team to build the software and internal processes needed to scale. If you are a technical expert who loves troubleshooting, mentoring teams, and building bulletproof operational systems, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Profitability
  • P&L Ownership: Manage and drive the profitability of the Venture Home Solar service department.
  • Quoting & Billing: Oversee the end-to-end process for custom quoting, estimating, and billing for all service and maintenance work.
  • Dispatch Readiness: Build and optimize systems to guarantee field technicians are 100% prepared for every service visit, ensuring they have the exact materials, system history, and scope of work before leaving the warehouse.
  • Training & Development: Create, implement, and lead comprehensive training programs to elevate the technical skills of the entire service team.
Technical & Field Leadership
  • System Troubleshooting: Serve as the ultimate escalation point for complex system diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Pre-Installation Prep: Plan, scope, and execute all non-solar electrical work required for pre-installation electrical service upgrades.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all service work and electrical preparations strictly adhere to national, state, and local electrical and building codes.
  • Roof Warranty Management: Oversee our roof warranty program. Utilize advanced roofing knowledge to deeply diagnose, assess, and permanently solve any roof-related issues or leaks.
Fleet Monitoring & Customer Success
  • Fleet Management: Lead the internal Fleet Team responsible for monitoring the performance of all existing customer systems.
  • Vendor & Finance Coordination: Act as the primary liaison with equipment manufacturers and finance companies to resolve hardware issues, process RMAs, and ensure systems remain operational and compliant.
Process & Software Development
  • System Architecture: Act as the critical link between the field and the office by designing out the "computer side" of the service department.
  • Dev Team Collaboration: Work closely with the internal development team to map workflows, define requirements, and build custom internal software processes that streamline service operations.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: Extensive background in residential/commercial solar installation, service, and troubleshooting.
  • Electrical Expertise: Deep understanding of electrical systems, non-solar electrical prep work, and comprehensive knowledge of NEC and local building codes.
  • Roofing Proficiency: Advanced, hands-on knowledge of various roofing types, structural assessments, waterproofing, and roof warranty diagnostics.
  • Systems Thinker: Proven ability to design internal workflows, manage logistics, and translate field requirements into software/process improvements.
  • Leadership: Strong team management skills with a track record of training and developing high-performing field technicians.
  • Location/Travel: Based full-time in our Stamford, CT office, with the willingness and ability to travel to local branches and job sites as needed.
