Position: UPK Preschool Expansion Lead Teacher

Are you a passionate early childhood educator who believes in creating engaging, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children? As we expand our Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program, we are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lead Teacher to help build a high-quality classroom environment where children thrive.

About the Role

The UPK Preschool Expansion Lead Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive curriculum that supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of preschool-aged children. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of a new or expanding UPK program while fostering strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with UPK standards and curriculum requirements.
  • Assess and document children's progress through observations and ongoing evaluation.
  • Foster positive relationships with families through regular communication and conferences.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, specialists, and administrative staff.
  • Maintain compliance with all licensing, health, safety, and UPK regulations.
  • Support children's social-emotional development and promote positive behavior guidance strategies.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (required).
  • New Jersey State Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education (P-3) required based on UPK regulations OR Currently enrolled in Alternate Route.
  • Experience teaching preschool-aged children in a classroom setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and early learning standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
