What is exotic car sales?

Exotic Car Sales refers to the specialized field of selling high-end, luxury, or rare vehicles, such as those made by brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Bentley. Professionals in this role work with a niche clientele seeking unique performance cars, often providing a personalized experience and in-depth knowledge about each vehicle. The job involves understanding the luxury automotive market, building relationships with clients, and sometimes sourcing rare or custom vehicles. Success in exotic car sales often depends on strong networking, negotiation skills, and a passion for high-performance vehicles.

Job description

Join the Gateway Classic Cars Team

At Gateway Classic Cars, we help automotive enthusiasts buy and sell the collector vehicles they have always dreamed of owning. As the world’s largest classic car sales company, our showrooms are home to thousands of classic, muscle, exotic, and specialty vehicles.

Those vehicles do not arrive by chance. They come from the relationships we build with collectors, vehicle owners, restoration shops, car clubs, and members of the local automotive community.

We are looking for a Classic Car Consignment Specialist who enjoys meeting people, building relationships, and creating new business opportunities. If you are comfortable starting conversations, following up consistently, and becoming involved in the local collector car community, we would love to meet you.

Whether your background is in business development, outside sales, automotive sales, account management, relationship based sales, or community outreach, this could be the opportunity you have been looking for.

About the Role

This is more than a traditional sales position.

As a Classic Car Consignment Specialist, you will connect with vehicle owners and help them understand how Gateway can assist with selling their collector vehicles. You will build relationships from the first conversation through the completed consignment and continue those relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.

Some days will be spent speaking with prospective consignors by phone, text, and email. Other days may include attending a car show, meeting with a restoration shop, visiting a private collection, hosting a car club meeting, or helping a customer bring a vehicle into the showroom.

Success in this position comes from consistent outreach, strong follow through, and earning the trust of the collector car community.

What You Will Do

Build New Business

• Make outbound calls and follow up with potential consignors.

• Use phone calls, text messages, email, networking, and community outreach to create new opportunities.

• Confirm appointments and maintain consistent communication with prospective customers.

• Meet established outreach and activity expectations each week and month.

Build Customer Relationships

• Create rapport with vehicle owners from the first conversation through the consignment process.

• Explain Gateway’s consignment services and answer customer questions.

• Maintain relationships with previous customers to encourage renewals, referrals, and repeat consignments.

• Provide professional and responsive customer service throughout every interaction.

Represent Gateway in the Community

• Attend local car shows, cruise nights, car club meetings, and automotive events.

• Build relationships with restoration shops, collectors, and other members of the automotive community.

• Visit private vehicle collections when appropriate.

• Host car club events and meetings at the showroom.

• Represent Gateway professionally while helping increase local awareness of our consignment services.

Manage the Consignment Process

• Add new vehicles to inventory and maintain accurate customer and vehicle information.

• Stay up to date on pending consignment paperwork and missing documents.

• Manage customer renewals and maintain accurate records in the CRM.

• Work closely with the showroom team to provide a smooth experience for each consignor.

Support the Showroom Team

• Assist with Gateway events, including Caffeine and Chrome and other community car shows.

• Welcome showroom visitors and provide excellent customer service.

• Support coworkers when needed to help keep the showroom running smoothly.

• Occasionally assist with training or provide support to other Gateway showrooms.

What We Are Looking For

You may be a great fit if you:

• Enjoy meeting new people and starting conversations.

• Build trust through honesty, consistency, and follow through.

• Are comfortable making outbound calls and contacting new prospects.

• Enjoy networking and being involved in the local community.

• Can stay organized while managing multiple customers and opportunities.

• Communicate confidently in person, over the phone, by text, and through email.

• Are motivated by goals and take ownership of your results.

• Enjoy learning about collector vehicles and helping owners share their stories.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Previous sales, business development, account management, customer service, or community outreach experience preferred.

• Automotive, collector car, consignment, or relationship based sales experience is a plus.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Comfortable using a CRM and learning new software systems.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.

• Willingness to attend local automotive events and community activities.

Why You Will Love Working Here

• Build relationships with collectors and automotive enthusiasts.

• Work around incredible collector vehicles every day.

• Become involved in the local car community.

• Join an established company.

• Have the opportunity to directly influence your success and income.

• Be part of a team that values professionalism, collaboration, and customer service.

• Receive paid training and ongoing support.
