Join our team as a Project Engineer within our Utilities (Water/Wastewater) practice area. This is a hybrid role based out of our Cary, North Carolina office.


In this role, you will contribute to the planning, design, and management of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, distribution, and collection systems. You will oversee project execution, develop process designs, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.


Ideal candidates have experience in water/wastewater treatment processes, hydraulic modeling, permitting, and construction administration, with a passion for delivering sustainable and resilient water infrastructure solutions.

  • Assist in the design of water and wastewater treatment systems, pump stations, and utility infrastructure
  • Perform engineering calculations, hydraulic modeling, and process design
  • Prepare technical reports, design drawings, and construction specifications
  • Support permitting efforts and regulatory compliance documentation
  • Participate in project meetings, field investigations, and construction site visits
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, senior engineers, and other technical staff
  • Help track project progress, budgets, and schedules
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and regulations related to water infrastructure

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or field of expertise or equivalent experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • 4+ years of experience in treatment design and infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling, treatment process design, pump station design, and utility infrastructure
  • Self-motivated, engaged, and team-oriented with the ability to work independently
  • Handle multiple tasks under pressure and prioritize responsibilities
  • Exhibit leadership in planning and/or design concepts and methods
  • Ability to successfully manage all internal aspects of projects/project tasks
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail; excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to mentor and lead technical staff
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience

Working Conditions
