For example, a manager earning a fixed salary and overseeing staff would generally be classified as an exempt employee.

Is being an exempt employee a good thing?

Being an exempt employee means you are salaried and not eligible for overtime pay, which can provide stable income but may also involve longer work hours. It is generally considered advantageous for those seeking predictable schedules and higher-level responsibilities, but it may limit overtime earnings. Whether it is a good thing depends on individual preferences and job expectations.
