Location: 6560 Surveillance Loop, Building 6007, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland 21005 (Hybrid)

Clearance Level: Active DoD - Interim Secret

SUMMARY
PM MC provides integrated system-of-system solutions to Army and Joint warfighters, whose products include computer hardware, software, communications and network management infrastructure.  The Mission Command Support Center (MCSC), under PM MC, is an integral part of the Program Executive Office - Command, Control, & Communications-Tactical (PEO-C3T) capability portfolio, providing a centralized capability to deploy, integrate, monitor, test, manage, modernize, evaluate and sustain fielded and enterprise-hosted MC capabilities.  The MCSC mission is one of constant change and adaptation, always responding to enable deployment of new capabilities, while assuring current capabilities are at an optimal state of readiness throughout globally deployed and networked assets.

The Software Developer is responsible for assisting in the creation and maintenance of a variety of software applications to support helpdesk operations and information technologies teams. May be required to create and maintain less complex applications in the same environment.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, maintain and enhance the functionality of a variety of software applications.
  • Determine technical requirements by analyzing customer needs.
  • Work with teams to resolve issues, prioritize needs, develop criteria and choose solutions.
  • Write and evaluate code to ensure it meets industry standards, is valid, properly structured and well documented.


QUALIFICATIONS
Required Certifications

  • DoD IAT Level II Certification (Must obtain within 90 days of starting).

Education, Background, and Years of Experience

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess at minimum an Interim Secret clearance.
  • BS or BA preferred but not required.
  • 3+ years of experience developing in Java. Core Java (1.7+); multi-threading, concurrency, etc.
  • Experience with the following software and technologies: relational database with JDBC, preferably MySQL, Postgres or SQL. Java Messaging Service (JMS); , preferably Artemis/Apache ActiveMQ. Enterprise Service Bus, preferably XML, XSD, XSLT, XPATH, and Object XML mapping.
  • Continuous Integration Software, preferably GitLab.
  • Automated software builds and API development.
  • Ability to operate effectively with a high level of independence. Strong willingness to quickly explore and learn new skills. Strong technical writing and verbal communications skills.


ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills

  • Experience developing in Java. Core Java (1.7+); multi-threading.
  • Experience with the following software and technologies: relational database with JDBC, preferably MySQL and JMS; preferably Artemis/Apache ActiveMQ. Enterprise Service Bus, preferably XML, XSD, XSLT, XPATH, and Object XML mapping.

Preferred Skills

  • Bonus Qualifications (Not Required):
  • Web programming languages, preferably PHP or JavaScript. REST and Web Services. SNMP traps. Apache HTTP server or Windows IIS. LDAP and Active Directory.
  • Network Packet sniffing, Wireshark, Java PCAP libraries. Virtual Environments (VMWare ESX, Microsoft HyperV). Java application software installation.


WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions

  • Stand Office Environment.
  • Hybrid, 2-3 days a week on-site.

Strength Demands

  • Light – 20 lbs. Maximum lifting with frequent lift/carry up to 10 lbs. A job is light if less lifting is involved but significant walking/standing is done or if done mostly sitting but requires push/pull on arm or leg controls.
