Position Summary

Project Rebound assists formerly and currently incarcerated adults and youth with applying, matriculating, and persisting in education. The Administrative Coordinator provides support to the Director and Executive Director. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of the office and acting as the first point of contact in the office for students and Project Rebound visitors. The Administrative Coordinator works with the student assists and helps them navigate employment and education.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,367 per month. Anticipated hiring rate is near or at the minimum of the classification salary range.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,367 per month (Step 1) - $6,362 per month (Step 20)

Salary step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.

Pay Plan: 12 months 

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Summer Hours (May - August) will be 7:30am - 4:00pm with a 30 minute lunch. Work hours dependent on department needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require knowledge of business mathematics beyond basis arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
 
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Required Qualifications 

  1. Thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  2. Expert in using office software packages, technology and systems.
  3. Ability and willingness to work with individuals regardless of criminal history and interact in a trauma informed compassionate manner.
  4. Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to work area.
  5. Ability to understand problems from a broader perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas.
  6. Ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions.
  7. Ability to perform business math, analyze budgetary data, and make accurate projections requiring some inference.
  8. Ability to effectively gather data and present reports from existing data systems.
  9. Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations.
  10. Ability to use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.
  11. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.

Preferred Qualifications 

  1. Experience working in an institution of higher education.
  2. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently, and use judgment and discretion to act\ when precedents do not exist.
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide lead work direction to students.
  4. Experience working with students from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, including underserved students.
  5. Knowledge of local, state, and federal corrections systems, parole, probation, and juvenile justice.
