Job description

An established national heavy civil contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major transportation infrastructure project in the Newark area.


This role offers the opportunity to oversee a large, technically complex program involving bridge structures, elevated concrete construction, transportation infrastructure, and significant civil works. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll be responsible for driving project performance, leading multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring successful delivery from preconstruction through final completion.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of project execution, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives are achieved.
  • Manage project staff, including Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field teams.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement strategies, and cost forecasts.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance, contract administration, and commercial management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, consultants, and key project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project risks and implement strategies to maintain productivity and profitability.
  • Lead regular financial reporting, change management, forecasting, and executive project reviews.
  • Promote a collaborative culture focused on operational excellence and successful project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience managing large-scale heavy civil construction projects.
  • Demonstrated success delivering bridge, structural concrete, or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, budgeting, and contract management.
  • Experience leading self-perform operations and coordinating multiple disciplines on complex construction programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
