Job description
Direct and oversee Individual Evaluation and Child Find staff, ensuring effective daily operations and resolution of program-related issues.
Plan, implement, and monitor the district's special education evaluation program to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, timelines, and quality standards.
Monitor and analyze data related to evaluations, PEIMS reporting, Child Find, and ARD processes to ensure compliance, accuracy, and continuous program improvement.
Develop, implement, and oversee training programs that support special education compliance, evaluation best practices, and staff professional growth.
Evaluate and improve special education evaluation processes, procedures, and systems to enhance program effectiveness and alignment with district goals.
Provide leadership and support to campuses in resolving complex evaluation cases, parent concerns, and compliance-related issues.
Interview, hire, train, supervise, assign, and evaluate Individual Evaluation and Child Find personnel.
Develop, administer, and monitor the department budget, including oversight of IDEA Part B proportionate share funding for eligible private and home school students.
Coordinate and oversee Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) requests, including contract development, evaluator management, and compliance with legal requirements.
Collaborate with Information Technology to develop, maintain, and improve special education forms, processes, and student management systems that support compliance and operational efficiency.
Coordinate with Region 10, community agencies, private schools, and other stakeholders to support Child Find, Early Intervention, and special education services.
Collect, analyze, and report program performance data to district leadership to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and updates to the Executive Director, Assistant Superintendent, and other district leadership.
Maintain professional expertise by staying current on special education laws, regulations, evidence-based practices, ethics, and emerging trends.
Demonstrate professional integrity and accountability while performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Master's Degree from an accredited
Preferred Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned
Preferred Evaluator credentials, Supervisor and/or Mid-Management Administration Certification preferred
Preferred Certification as Educational Diagnostician or LSSP
Required 5 years of experiance in Education or related field
Preferred10 years of experiance directly related evaluation experience preferred.
Extensive knowledge and experience with the student referral, evaluation identification process, diagnostic procedures, education of special education students, human development, and learning theories
Experience working with children and youth in a special education setting; experience in an urban school setting and/or in a multicultural education environment preferred
Comprehensive and proficiency in theories and principles of learning and evaluation; knowledge of special education principles, theories, and federal/state laws
Demonstrate ability to resolve logistical and operational problems related to special education service delivery
Demonstrate knowledge of special education programs
Effective oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and collaborative work style
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position
Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others and the ability to utilize performance accountability measures
Ability to manage budgets
Experience and knowledge of instructional materials and delivery and classroom management
Knowledge of special education information systems and efficient work process
