PDI Architect & Retail Technology Specialist
The Opportunity
  • PDI Architect & Retail Technology Specialist at a growth-oriented energy company
  • Become a senior technical resource for PDI platform architecture, back-office operations, and Tier 2 retail technology support
  • Reporting to the Director, Retail IT you will work in close peer-level collaboration with our existing PDI subject matter expert, contributing to platform decisions, integrations, and data strategy from day one

Key activities include:
Back Office and Operational Support
  • Serve as the senior IT resource for Retail Operations and Accounting, owning back-office workflows, reporting, fuel reconciliation exceptions, inventory variances, and invoice verification
  • Translate complex operational requirements from store and district leadership into PDI configuration, integration, or workflow solutions
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and technical documentation for back-office procedures and system workflows

PDI Platform Architecture
  • Lead PDI Enterprise configuration and platform decisions in partnership with the existing PDI subject matter expert, covering pricebook management, inventory, loyalty integration, and fuel reconciliation
  • Design and maintain PDI InSights / MarketLink reporting solutions; drive module implementations, upgrades, and third-party integration architecture
  • Own PDI RSM handheld configurations, SOX compliance reporting, and direct vendor escalations for core platform defects

Retail Technology Support
  • Provide Tier 2 remote support for Gilbarco Passport POS, FP6 dispensers, Engage media, InSite360, Scale Computing Edge, back-office PCs, SupplyIT, and store network equipment
  • Coordinate with field teams and vendors to resolve store-impacting issues; manage tickets in ManageEngine ServiceDesk
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation (approximately 1 week on, 5 weeks off)

Integration and Data
  • Architect and maintain SQL-based data flows, batch processes, and system integrations connecting PDI to other enterprise platforms
  • Lead EDI, electronic invoice verification, and third-party inventory audit integration design and support

Qualifications
To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
Additional qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field required
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on PDI Enterprise experience in a convenience retail or petroleum wholesale environment, with demonstrated depth across multiple modules preferred
  • Expert-level knowledge of Gilbarco Passport POS and strong familiarity with FP6 dispensers, InSite360, and Gilbarco Engage media required
  • Proven track record as a senior technical partner to retail operations and accounting leadership, not just a support resource required
  • Advanced SQL skills and deep working knowledge of fuel reconciliation, pricebook architecture, inventory management, and card processing workflows required
  • Ability to lead vendor relationships, own escalations, and communicate platform strategy to executive and non-technical stakeholders alike required
  • Availability to participate in a structured after-hours on-call rotation required; responsibilities are limited to escalated support matters and are not part of daily operational duties
  • Experience with PDI InSights / MarketLink report design and PDI RSM handheld administration preferred
  • Experience with VeederRoot ATG systems and DTN fuel pricing platforms preferred
  • Experience with Scale Computing Edge or similar hyperconverged edge infrastructure preferred
  • Experience with scan data programs (Altria, RJR, ITG) and tobacco brand-funded promotion workflows preferred
  • Experience with ManageEngine ServiceDesk or equivalent ITSM platform in a retail IT environment preferred
  • Experience with networking fundamentals: managed switches, VPN, and firewall basics in a multi-site retail context preferred
  • DVR/NVR or IP camera platform experience; SOX compliance reporting; multi-brand, multi-state retail IT background preferred
