Job description
The role operates as the operational engine of a Hybrid Operating Model (Hub-and-Spoke for the central function with Federated Governance through the Enterprise Analytics Council), with primary accountability for delivery outcomes across the enterprise analytics product portfolio.
The Manager partners closely with the Senior Data and Applications Architect on technical delivery, with the Data Governance Lead on governance discipline, with the Clinical Analytics Translator on operator-facing partnerships, and with the Analytics Project Management Lead on engagement coordination through the Beacon PMO.
MISSION, VALUES and SERVICE GOALS
- MISSION: We deliver outstanding care, inspire health, and connect with heart.
- VALUES: Trust. Respect. Integrity. Compassion
- SERVICE GOALS: Personally connect. Keep everyone informed. Be on their team.
Operational Leadership and Departmental Management
The Manager runs the day-to-day operations of the central enterprise analytics function and carries primary accountability for delivery outcomes across the portfolio.
- Own the operational leadership of the central enterprise analytics function: portfolio delivery, team performance, intake prioritization, and operating cadence.
- Carry full supervisory authority over the central analyst team: hiring decisions, onboarding, performance management, compensation recommendations, career development, and disciplinary action when warranted.
- Operate as the senior decision-maker on intake prioritization, backlog management, and resource allocation across the central team in partnership with the Executive Director.
- Partner with the Executive Director on annual budget planning, FTE planning, contractor-to-employee conversion decisions, and resource forecasting across the three-year horizon.
- Run the operating cadence: weekly team meetings, intake review, executive touchpoints, monthly portfolio reviews, quarterly strategic reviews.
- Serve as the senior representative of the function in operational forums where analytics intersects with cross-functional decision-making.
- May serve as acting Executive Director during periods of leadership transition or absence.
The Manager owns the central team's talent strategy in partnership with the Executive Director and operates as the direct supervisor of the central analyst layer.
- Direct supervisory responsibility for Senior Analysts, Research Analyst, Analytics Coordinator, and seasonal Analytics Intern.
- Recruit, hire, and onboard talent against the competency model and proficiency scale defined by the Executive Director.
- Establish performance expectations, coaching cadence, individual development plans, and career trajectory for direct reports.
- Conduct annual performance reviews, calibrate compensation recommendations, and make disciplinary and promotion decisions.
- Drive contractor-to-full-time conversion decisions where the work is permanent, in partnership with the Executive Director and Beacon HR.
- Establish and maintain a positive team culture aligned with the Beacon Way operating principles.
The Manager is the function's on-site institutional face for the Indiana market and operates at executive-adjacent altitude with operating leadership across the system.
- Operate as the on-site institutional face of the function for the Chief Operating Officer, hospital presidents, and Indiana market leadership.
- Maintain operating cadence with finance, quality, and clinical operations leaders across the Indiana market and the broader system.
- Represent the analytics function in cross-functional executive forums where on-site presence and decision authority are required.
- Anchor the function's visible presence in operational venues, including operations leadership huddles, Indiana market reviews, and cross-functional working groups.
The Manager owns the operational accountability for the certified enterprise analytics product portfolio and the discipline that protects its integrity.
- Own end-to-end delivery accountability for the certified enterprise dashboard and scorecard portfolio.
- Drive validation execution against the team's five-question validation framework (Q1 through Q5): data source integrity, transformation logic, measure-definition fidelity, business-rule alignment, and operational ownership sign-off.
- Enforce the analytics brand and About-section documentation standard across every certified product.
- Partner with the Data Governance Lead on measure stewardship, lineage discipline, master data, metadata, and dashboard certification.
- Partner with the Senior Data and Applications Architect on technical architecture decisions, semantic-layer design, and platform investments.
The Manager drives the function's contribution to Beacon's enterprise value-capture workstreams and operates as the operational partner for the function's cross-functional dependencies.
- Coordinate the central function's contribution to enterprise value-capture workstreams: risk-adjusted reimbursement, denials remediation, operating-room efficiency, BMG quality-incentive performance, and EHR clinical operations dependency.
- Partner with the Analytics Project Management Lead (Beacon PMO) on engagements requiring more than 40 hours of coordination across multiple teams.
- Run intake triage with the Analytics Coordinator and drive backlog prioritization decisions with the Executive Director.
- Represent the function in vendor architecture conversations alongside the Senior Applications Architect.
- Coordinate with the Enterprise Analytics Council on cross-domain analytics decisions and shared standards.
The Manager ensures the function operates inside Beacon's compliance, privacy, and data governance perimeter.
- Ensure all analytics activities comply with HIPAA, HL7, FHIR, and other relevant healthcare regulations.
- Support development and enforcement of data governance policies to maintain data quality, integrity, and security.
- Participate in regular audits, data validation processes, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure analytics products operate inside Beacon's information security and privacy controls.
- Performs other job-related assignments and special projects as directed by the Executive Director.
