Job description

Position Overview
Maintain, plan and prepare Seldovia Village Tribe facility gardens throughout approved season of work.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Weeding regularly to maintain a weed-free garden space
  • Watering on a consistent schedule while reviewing weather patterns for needed adjustments
  • Plant bulbs, flowers, plants, etc. as approved by CEO or according to garden plans
  • Maintain garden spaces during the summer season as possible within availability
  • Communicate and work with other gardeners as necessary or SVT staff to address gaps in care, finding coverage for watering when possible
  • Cleaning up flower beds and address borders no longer in good condition
  • Monitor and ensure plant health
  • Prune and trim plants or trees as necessary
  • Address pest issues
  • Other duties as assigned

  1. Knowledge of gardening methods especially plant identification and care, required
  2. Ability to implement guidance or directions from supervisor
  3. Ability to work as a member of a team when necessary
  4. Reliable

Seldovia Village Tribe is a drug-free, alcohol-free, and tobacco-free work environment. Work environment may be noisy. Work primarily occurs outdoors in all weather conditions including, sun, rain, cold, and heat. Insects and animals are common. Work includes long periods bent over or crouched working in a garden setting.
